Is this about as good as its going to get?

I can think of four reasons straight away, why I don´t think we´ll make promotion this season. Firstly Daniel Farke doesn´t seem either good enough, or experienced enough to pull it off. Secondly, the majority of Norwich City supporters ( and I don´t mean anyone in particular on here Donuts, I mean those who turn up at the ground and voice their feelings) want immediate success, they´ve proved over the last several years that they are totally intolerant of anything less, and when failure ( or even part failure) appears to be apparent, they soon get out the knives. Thirdly, Webber seems to me to be the sort who will bow to fan opinion, at the first signs of dissatisfaction. Fourthly, I´m not convinced the squad is anywhere near strong enough, for a concerted push for promotion.

All of the above are just feelings by the way, and I hope I´m proved completely wrong, but nothing I´ve seen so far induces me to change my mind. And I don´t know why particularly, I should keep on repeating myself, but I´ve said on numerous occasions that nothing would please me more than for us to be promoted again, but not while the prospects for a sustained appearance, are so poor.

And Cromer, if you think I sound resigned to a lengthy Championship slog, you´re right, I am - and actually so should everyone else, because that´s what´s ahead of us.

The signs of changes blowing in the wind surely augur well?
A new manager, from a country who are renowned for the style of football they try to play.
A new, refreshed boardroom set up.
A complete change of the (bland, insipid) recruitment team, one of who is responsible for scouts posted abroad.
I would say a new footballing ethos, but with the recent reverting to more or less 4-2-3-1, that no longer applies. But this is still an embryonic beast which will take nurturing and tweaking on occasions to evolve into anywhere near the finished article.
Surely the above is better than simply plucking an unemployed gaffer off the usual merry-go-round?
And biggest bullet dodged of all, after Neil left, Hodgson was a bookies favourite for the gig!! <yikes>

Well I would very much like for Norwich to get promoted and the fans will get behind them if they carry on showing heart and desire to not lose.

I predict Norwich to finish the season in 3rd place .

If we stay in the Championship beyond January will surely have to sell and weaken the squad.
May I suggest a striker and a right back to cover the Portuguese ?

It wasn't very clear but in the context of "several transfer windows to get the right players in" we have 1 left (in January) to get promoted (this season ) and strengthen and if we fail (this season) then the subsequent windows (beyond this season) will be mainly selling our best players, thus weakening the squad due to losing our parachute payments (that run out at the end of this season) and investing badly (In previous seasons) when we were in the Premier league .

Yes 1 sentence.

Well Farke seems to have managed to sort out in a couple of months something that AN couldn't sort out all last season, our defence.

I don't see why with time and another transfer window things won't continue to get better.

Spot on. Debate / argument on twitter last weekend about the folly of not having a third striker until January at least.
Point being, as deadline day approached, our defence was shambolic (as we've all grown accustomed to!) so Hanley was a more pressing priority at that time.
Given what we know now, a striker would have been far more useful, given Nelson's injury.
Oh, the glorious benefit of hindsight, hey?

It was an absolute belter of a goal and such a shame for those listening to Radio Norfolk 'n Good that Chris Goreham wasn't there to commentate on it!!!
Much as I'd love to pop off to Turkey on a regular basis, I've got things I need to do at home.

Having just read this thread through from the beginning, it's interesting to see how views have fluctuated. The new players suddenly look like good choices after all, though there's the return of Klose as well. Both Trybull and Steidermann have added a new dimension and Tettey has added solidity and bite. The real difference lies in the organisation in spite of all these changes, and that is down to DF and his management team.

Two points off the play-off places and 5 points off automatic promotion suddenly looks very promising, but it has to be maintained of course. If we are to succeed, then we'll need to do it through the whole team performance on a consistent basis like we did back in the 1990s. No big money stars, but a well balanced and highly committed team of players week after week. That now looks possible.
