no it would have just been wrong.
see double jeopardy rule which is now in place.
I thought he could have been sent off for serious foul play. He actually took a wild swing at the ball and caught his opponent very high in the follow through. I'm not sure what happens if the ref judged it as a reckless foul. Can he give two yellow cards: one for denying the goal scoring opportunity and the other for the recklessness. I suppose not.

Brighton above Leicester.

Gooners can rise to 7th if they win, tomorrow. That would be good for them.

Having lived a mile or so from the ground for a couple of decades, a number of my mates support Crystal Palace. This is panning out to be some season........

No points.
No goals.
Roy Hodgson is their saviour.........................

...............and now it appears that Christian Benteke has done knee ligaments and they are without a fit striker and looking at bringing in............Ricky Lambert ............or Carlton '****ing' Cole..................CARLTON '****ING' COLE. Strike me, he was **** before he needed a Zimmer frame.

Surprised that Adabeyor hasn't reappeared from
the void sensing a desperation PL kerching payout.

Gareth Barry is getting a lot of publicity for having played the most games in the last 25 years. it's a fine achievement but it ain't no record, even taking into account it's now 38 games, not 42.

When he's played 81 more times and beats John Hollins outfield record, then he's done something record breaking. Shearer is not the all-time English top flight record goal scorer either.

A propos nothing in particular, of the top 10 all-time appearance makers, I've seen 4 of them play for Spurs.

Barry never played for either the scum or the other scum, while Hollins played for both. **** Hollins! <laugh>

It feels like a good atmosphere here. Arsenal fans will be pleased. It was a good performance against Chelsea.

I expect Arsenal to sweep past West Brom."
