Whilst I really don't want him back as first choice, I still think it is a touch harsh to condemn him any more than Zimmermann for their involvements in earlier poor displays. Just as Zimmerman is benefiting from playing with; Klose, Stiepermann, Pinto, Tettey and Trybull it is not unreasonable to think maybe Martin would also do better with them around him.
But Zimmerman is still relatively young for a CB at 24, new to the championship and new to the team, whilst Martin is past his sell by date, an experience championship player and is / was far too comfortable at Norwich. He's also the captain and was supposed to be there to help the likes on Zimmerman settle in. In addition Zimmerman has shown that in a short period of time when he plays with an experienced senior CB he can put in some good performances, whereas it seems whoever Martin plays with tends to have a poor game and as for Martin I can't remember the last time he put in a really good performance. So all things are not equal and yes Martin's poor performances should be judged more harshly than Zimmerman's.
