Personally I think this is great news. The guy might not be the most blessed technical footballer we have at the club but he clearly epitomises the drive and energy that Lennon wants in the team. We've had a better win record whenever he plays. Simply because he harries the opposition midfield. Especially their attacking midfield players which in turn gives our full-backs license to bomb forward.
I'm a big fan of Scott Brown and have been since I first saw him kick big Bobo Balde in the oxter during a Hibs v Celtic game about six years ago. He does a huge amount of hard work for the team, not only on the field but in training and the dressing room as well according to Lennon. He's an easy target for the boo boys because he doesn't do the glamorous stuff but even then he does have a good pass on him despite what some claim.
I'm the first to admit that I thought Kevin Thomson was the better player in that Hibs team. I was glad we got Brown though after I saw his performance for Scotland against the Italians not long after he signed his pre-contract. But I'm a sucker for heart-on-the-sleeve players. I tend to give them more leeway in their performances, Brown seems like the same guy on and off the pitch; Essentially decent but mad as a brush. I'm struggling to comprehend this talking about Celtic thing without the usual bawbags and their usual pish.
ANother pathetci IRA dusplay at ra Piggery last night. Terrist chants aw game long whens EUFA gonny look it thay tarriers ****s?? Better?
I think giving him a 5 year contract is a mistake..... ....look at what happened to that **** Samaras after he got given one
I think giving him a five year deal is a great bit of business. It means that if some club want to get him in his prime in a couple of years they're going to have to pay top whack for him. As for that Greek tragedy. See my signature for the thoughts on that prick.
I am absolutely convinced there is a player in Big George (not having sex with him). But until someone can let that player out, he shouldn't be let next or near a football field.
I think he's a great player, not as technical as some but still able to ping a pass. Bit of genius sticking him out on the right where his non stop runnning serves more purpose, its great when we break down play & the ball falls to Brown & watching the energy in those first 5 yards.........if only everybody else wasn't as slow as **** we'd be awesome on the counter attack! As for Samaras - he reminds me of a talented sunday league player, the kind who only really play against the bottom teams as they think they could grab a goal or two. Against the good teams or when things aren't going right he'll be happy to do **** all & pray everyone remembers that hatrick he hit against the team who could only field 9 a few weeks before because half the team were off on Johno's stag do.
Thats the annoying thing about that big whore He has the talent, but not the attitude/confidence/willing to let it show If this **** had Scott Browns fight and will to win he'd be class act and would be playing at a much higher level
Brown played his best football for hibs when he was in a 3 man central midfield, the form that won him the move to us in the first place. And by playing on the right of midfield its pretty much the same - as he's not playing truely as a winger yet doesnt have the responsibility of being one of two middle men. So its not really a surprise hes found his form again there. Lennon on the main has kept it simply - playing players where he'll get the best out of them - thats until he has experimented with Stokes on the left wing what thats alll about is beyond me. Had he stuck Sammy on the wing and stokes through the middle it might have been more effective
Agreed great news with the deal for Brown. I cannot understand all this bleating about Samaras, he won nearly every ball that was sent up high towards him. He could see no one near him in front so he flicked the ball on. It wasn't Sammy's fault no one was challenging. Sammy had no other option, either he has support or he hasn't if he hasn't why the hell did the team keep kicking high balls to him. He also got a couple headers at goal and was the only man on the Celtic team to react when the keeper spilt Maloney's shot.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion superhoops but Samaras just doesn't perform often enough for many Celtic fans. Most of us would be delighted to see him play well and scoring goals. But you must see why he is a frustrating player to watch a lot of the time?
It's not just one game though. He did play okay last night. But my frustration is based on his performances over the past couple of years. He did little of note last season apart from the game at Ibrox when he scored two goals. I honestly believe he won a new contract on the strength of that one performance and it was a mistake to do so. He scored what, three goals last season? In anyone's book that is shocking. BBJ once said any striker who plays for Celtic and Rangers should expect to score at least 20 goals per season based on the fact that we are so much better than other teams and there is a lot of opportunities for OF strikers. He is so inconsistent and annoying that it physically pains me to see him wearing a Celtic strip.
I think you need to rewatch the game if you think Samaras' headers were at goal! He was trying his best to move away from the ball. He never once tried to bring the ball down & play it to team mate, every timehe flicked it on - hemust have known being the only striker there was nobody beyond him? Awful footballer.
Not an awful player , still a great player in my mind unfortunately Scottish football kick and rush isn't for him , I actually thought Samaras was one of our better players last night
