Pretty good article. But the way some of the text has been phrased leaves it open to interpretation, especially by Saints fans, wanting to pick over every last detail, to make sure it's fair. I think the author may have overemphasised the former flaky financial position at the club, and how it impinges on us nowadays. It doesn't. We know that Saints will never be in a bad financial position whilst it is owned by the Liebherr family, and it will never be allowed to become irresponsible in its spending, with Nicola Cortese at the helm. Those facts are well known to Saints fans yet never seen in print outside of Club statements. Perhaps authors need to read some of the statements, historically made by Liebherr and particularly by Cortese. Then they wouldn't keep confusing financial prudence with an inability to pay.
