Can QPR roll back the years at Goodison? – Fixture history http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footba..._back_the_years_at_goodison_–_fixture_history
Matt Connolly set for QPR start Aug 18 2011 By Jacob Murtagh Everton v QPR MATT Connolly is expected to start at left-back for Saturday's trip to Goodison Park. With Clint Hill suspended, the former Arsenal youngster is the natural replacement to fill the void in defence as Rangers look to bounce back from last weekend's nightmare against Bolton. Kaspars Gorkss could earn a place on the bench, while Petter Vaagen Moen is also expected to be included in the 18 as Keiron Dyer hasn't recovered in time. The utility man is making good progress after being stretchered off with an ankle injury in the 4-0 thrashing by the Trotters, and is due to return to training next week. I'm going, almost fancy us for this, especially at 5-1 being quoted. Hope we get a speedy left back in and defend properly this week as I can see us creating chances against everybody. Not sure but think all the tickets have been sold... There we're only 200 restricted views left yesterday I noticed... Anyone know how many they gave us? Not sure if it was 2,000 or 3,000.... Will be a decent (and loud) turnout tho
Jay Bothroyd has point to prove against Everton By Jacob Murtagh Aug 19 2011 Add a comment Recommend inShare Share JAY Bothroyd insists he has no regrets joining QPR as he gears up to face the side he almost signed for this summer. The England striker will be looking to open his account for his new club when Rangers travel to Everton tomorrow as the hoops try to put last week's nightmare showing against Bolton behind them. But Bothroyd could easily have been lining up against Neil Warnock's men at Goodison Park after confirming he held talks with the Toffees during the close season. However, the former Cardiff City frontman is determined to prove himself in the Premier League. He said: “We spoke, like I did with a few clubs to be honest, but I'm happy I chose to come here. “I feel I made the right decision and the gaffer's been great. “Of course, I feel I can score goals in this league, I think every forward has to be confident he can do that. “I feel I contribute to the team and I want my team-mates to appreciate what I do for them. That’s all I can do, work hard and keep it going.” Bothroyd has issued a rallying cry to his team-mates as they look to claim their first point of the season on Merseyside. He added: “We can't go out there looking at anyone else. Everton are probably better individually than Bolton but play in a similar way. “They're an established Premier League side who have done well in previous seasons. “It's a tough place to go but we're looking forward to it. We're not intimidated by it.” Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest QPR news. Read More http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/lo...=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter#ixzz1VSLAFjCY

Everton v QPR: Warnock without injured midfielder Dyer for trip to Merseyside By Sportsmail Reporter Last updated at 11:00 AM on 19th August 2011 QPR manager Neil Warnock will be without summer signing Kieron Dyer for Saturday's Barclays Premier League trip to Everton. The 31-year-old was carried off in last week's season opener and, while his foot injury is not as serious as first thought, he will miss the Goodison Park clash. On the mend: Dyer could be back sooner than expected for Warnock Warnock still awaiting international clearance for recent signing Bruno Perone, while both striker Rob Hulse (knee) and Jamie Mackie (broken leg) remain out. Provisional squad: Kenny, Murphy, Orr, Hill, Derry, Hall, Gabbidon, Taarabt, Campbell, Bothroyd, Faurlin, Gorkss, Buzsaky, Connolly, Smith, Helguson, Moen, Agyemang, ****tu, Ephraim, Perone.
Absolutley gutted I can't make this game. I've been offered tickets by 4 different people this week including an Evertonian season ticket holder who is on call at work and can't make it. The fixture computer has been very unkind to me. Living in ST Helens I had 3 main games I was looking forward to this season. Everton, Liverpool and Wigan as I can get to those grounds on public transport within 45 mins of leaving my house. I'm away both this weekend and next weekend so I can't make the Wigan game as well. That leaves Anfield in December. My Evertonian friends would be happy with a draw as they know that they are slow starters and are worried that their game at Spurs got called off last week. I was at Goodison for our 3-1 win in 77. I was sat on the old semi circle wall behind the goal both that year and the year later for the 3-3 draw.
Alright Adrahil, welcome and shame you can't get there.I'll be there tomorrow and also remember the game in 77.Good old days.
Everton v QPR By Steve Bower BBC Match of the Day commentator Barclays Premier League Venue: Goodison Park Date: Saturday 20 August Kick-off: 1500 BST Coverage: Watch highlights on Match of the Day; listen on BBC Radio 5 live and local radio; text commentary on BBC Sport website and mobiles TEAM NEWS Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta looks to overcome the foot injury that hampered him during pre-season. Seamus Coleman is a certain absentee with ankle ligament damage, while Diniyar Bilyaletdinov is banned. QPR are without the suspended Clint Hill, who was sent off last Saturday, so Matt Connelly is expected to deputise. Keiron Dyer's ankle injury will keep him sidelined until at least next week but Kaspars Gorkss is included. MATCH PREVIEW The teams' off-the-pitch build-ups to this game couldn't be more contrasting. The recent Queens Park Rangers story is a fascinating one, and this week's takeover by Malaysian businessman Tony Fernandes only adds to the intrigue. They have already spent more than Everton this summer and now have funds available to allow Neil Warnock to reinforce his squad in an attempt to achieve his target of Premier League stability. The last time QPR faced Everton in the league 15 years ago, they won 3-1 with Mark Hateley and Kevin Gallen among the scorers and their midfield contained Ray Wilkins, Trevor Sinclair and Ian Holloway! Only over the course of the next 10 months will we see if there are any new heroes to step forward on the club's return to the top flight and write their names into QPR's history books. The London side will certainly be hoping for an immediate reaction to the opening day defeat to Bolton - they don't play any of last season's top six in their next seven games, so they'll certainly need some points on the board by then. Whilst optimism is in the air in West London, frustration surrounds the blue half of Merseyside. Bill Kenwright confirmed this week that the club can't borrow any more money from the bank, which explains why not one permanent new face has been added in the transfer window. At least so far they've managed to hold onto key figures such as Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka. Everton will be hoping that the wait to start their season is worth it. Too often in recent times, a disappointing beginning to the campaign has left them with ground to make up in the new year. Last season they didn't win a league match until their seventh attempt, which came in October. In fact, it was their worst start since 1994, and this is the first of a handful of fixtures that gives them an opportunity to hit the ground running. David Moyes will celebrate 10 years in charge at Goodison this season. He has led the club to top-eight finishes in six of the last seven campaigns, which is a huge achievement in itself, and no doubt will be a target once again. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head The two clubs meet in the top flight for the first time since April 1996. QPR have won five of eight Premier League encounters, compared to Everton's two. This fixture has historically produced goals in the Premier League era with 35 being scored, an average of 4.3 per game. David Moyes and Neil Warnock have met eight times before as managers. Moyes has five wins to Warnock's one, while two games have been drawn. Everton Everton are unbeaten in their last 12 Premier League matches at Goodison Park, a run dating back to December 2010. The Toffees last seven league goals have been scored in the second half. David Moyes' men lost three of their six league matches against promoted clubs last season, including at home to Newcastle United and West Brom. Everton have lost 99 home matches in Premier League history. QPR Rangers' last top flight away win came in a 3-1 victory at Sheffield Wednesday in February 1996. The last promoted club to lose their opening two Premier League matches was West Brom in 2008-09 and they went on to be relegated Only win in their last six for QPR dating back to the tail end of last season. QPR's Heidar Helguson is looking for his 100th English league goal. iReader
Moyes seeking positive start View Image > Everton boss David Moyes is determined to avoid the slow start the Toffees made to last season when their Premier League campaign finally gets underway on Saturday. QPR's visit to Goodison Park will get Everton's season started after the disturbances in London put paid to their trip to Tottenham. Although Moyes has been unable to add to his squad over the summer he says those remaining are 'brilliant' and remains hopeful of a positive season. "The players are ready to play. We had some who needed the extra week to get some more training in," Moyes said. "I have a brilliant group of players, a really good team and if we could add to it we would like to do so but not every manager is lucky enough to have millions. "We may miss out on little bits and pieces but the one thing Everton will be is competitive in the Premier League. "What we want to do is get ourselves up the league as quickly as we can. First of all this year is to get the points to make sure we are not in a relegation situation and then kick on from there."
