You should have done, boxers away from the sport are very ordinary, good willed men..<ok>

He was a lovely bloke tbf ... my best mate's got his own bricklaying contracting business in Coventry and knew Jimmy personally so put me in touch (a lot cheaper than Hertfordshire tradesmen <laugh> ... so I was already on 'mates rates' ... plus he was excellent at his job <ok>

Not sure if you realise Joe but this board always demands proof.

Even if you've done something easy like run the San Fransico marathon.

Pathetic, ay?

Life is all about proof, got to be sure these days, so who ran the SF marathon, was it you?

Quite smitten here..

So what weight did you fight at..?

I was a kid, so we went by age, back then.

At Cambridge, I was encouraged to dabble again, and I was classed as light heavy-weight. My heart had fled the sport at that stage, as I was more into other things, but I did fight a few bouts. Six, in fact. Won 5 and drew 1. But I knew I was not a boxer at heart.

You are a Leicester lad, Tony Sibson who I get to know very well years ago was a Leicester lad. Cracking Middleweight but always got over excited when he was on top. Suppose we all get like that in life but in a ring it's as bad as losing it..<ok>

You were always tagged as a wum mate, if you could have boxed wum and bullshit, then you would have had out gobbed Ali in Manila..<ok>

Must be a big lad now to have been light-heavy in youth?

I started at fly and ended at welterweight, sparred with both DB Green and Honeyghan..

I was 27 when I had my last bout.

My Grandad was feather Army Champion.

But he wasn't the one who got me started, as he died when I was 8.

When I started boxing - at 12 years old - it was my aunts who came out with all the "Grandad stories."

Ha! never gobby mate, if someone in front of me talks a bag of ****, lets me down, hurts my family or procures to get into my head then yeah, I will go all barrels but I suppose you would too?

28 when I stopped boxing, 35 when I stopped bare-knuckling.. :)

I still do that now!

Good lad..<ok>

I should have said 42, there was a bloke who I went to work for and invested cash into that accused me through his alcoholism of ripping him off, got the police involved and gave me a hard time back in 1996 with a few heavies and stuff..

Drove up to Washington, Tyne and Wear in 2002 and waited for the crew to come out of their drinking hole with a couple of mates that owed me a favour. Absolutely battered that man to the brink, his boys were subdued so I had my time. Anyone thinks they can scrap a scrapper, well I'm 5-6" with a tremendous reach and arms like smugs <laugh>, he was a 6-2" geordie smart ****er but I bet he has never got over that night. In the eyes, in the heart and in the fists..<ok>

I love used those kinds of capers.

These days, I take my 7 year old to his tag-rugby lessons, and try to stop my 15 year old getting the local slappers pregnant.

I know. I'm a pussy.

Better to be a pussy and do what you are doing than to be an annoying git on a forum of empty faces.. ;)

You know what I mean.. respect..<ok>
