That's the other thing, they're already being investigated. I'm a cynic though and I don't think this will truly go anywhere, it'll be a slap on the wrist type punishment I feel if there is one
And on here we've still got Drinkcarling, can't feckin get rid of this guy ... oh wait @Red Hadron Collider
Not sure it can be a slap tbh, can't be arsed looking but hasn't there been proper punishments giving to clubs for breaking FFP rules in the past? There's no way they can come out of the investigation without having been found to have broken the rules imo.
City for a fine and reduced CL squad. But then got most of their fine back a couple years later when they met FFP requirements again.
Doesn't matter where they play unless FFP really has teeth. They have "independent" means that isn't affected by how well they do on the field. If they get it right they can tailor their season to trying to win the Champions League knowing that they have sufficient quality to win Ligue 1 without breaking sweat.
Let me put ffp in context. Right now.... today.. Barca could have Messi release clause activated by new York city. No issue, no ffpto woody about and the player could be loaned for 4 years to man city. There's nothing to stop this... Unless FIFA standardise the approach globally there are ways round ffp. I'm just shocked it's not been done already.
Think at time remember was saying they gave the fine back because point of ffp is to educate teams to meet requirements and not just punish them etc.
Where i come from what the Barca guy has basically said is this, Well **** me backwards that didnt go to plan, Tried to backtrack but no ****er played ball some rich bastards have ****ed this game right up So we are now going to take the moral high road and not participate in any of this **** till January
Liverpool refute Barcelona claims of £183m Philippe Coutinho price tag http://www.skysports.com/football/n...na-claims-of-183m-philippe-coutinho-price-tag
Yeah, Citeh were fined £49m which was reduced to a piffling £17m on appeal , ****ing pocket change to Citeh
Didn't PSG get the same punishment? Threat of being removed from champions league for a year too I thought. Thankfully UEFA backed down. If all a team like PSG are gonna get is a relatively small fine, then they may as Well keep spending a crap load each summer. Whats a 17m fine on top of a 200m transfer.
I'm not familiar with the PSG stuff, I just remember the Citeh figures. Did anyone seriously believe that FFP was going to work though, so many loopholes
I cannot believe that Barcelona's president has complained that governments and countries are now the agents of football when talking about Neymar. True but Real Madrid and to a certain extent Barcelona themselves have been doing this well before PSG. But instead of governments of countries, it's been local governments of their own Cities. The City of Madrid and their local government have been financially supporting Real for decades. These clubs have been subsidised to the tune of hundreds of millions. I recall the training ground of Real Madrid was sold about 15 -20 years ago to the local council. Price paid: £200m. Value: £1m. Incredible but no one could say anything. On top of that Madrid and Barcelona get regular loans, sponsorships from their local councils.
