Overall disappointing window. Cant believe we didn't have a back up for Van Dijk, now we have to try him again in January or next summer. Still think we are an injury or two away from crisis
Last year at my physical the doctor says to my casually, "ok turn around and drop the pants", saw the bewildered look on my face and then said "sorry, no, you're still in your 30's, nevermind." I guess that means my doctor is going to want to finger my bum in a few years. It's bad enough him poking my nuts each year... They always hurt for a few days after he has given them a squeeze.
We do have a bit of transfer history with you guys, maybe our board just wanted to make a statement. FWIW I don't think that any club could've offered enough for us to sell in this window. One thing for certain is that we knew that your club were interested until the apology and we never invited a bid from your club, if we wanted to sell then we would've done.
As if that hadn't occurred to the pair of them at any point before like Him ****ing them clean off mid medical is hilarious makes Gerrards WUM look amateurish
But if there weren't any bids you'll never know if he wouldn't have been sold, you are only basing your assumption on what the press have said yet the evidence based on money being more than acceptable for players and managers previously says saints are a selling club and would have bitten the hand off a club making a very good offer.
In fairness the difference between the real price and the press and twitter bullshit is massive. You were never getting 70mil and we were never paying that anyway so if the van dijk i choose stuff never happened this would have ended up as a summer long whats the price thing anyway. Best if luck getting him back on board. All we can do with coutinho is promise the guy to sell him in june next year. You guys are saying hes not for sale and you wanna be this or that. You might have to lob 120k a week at him with release clause. Otherwise he has no advantage cosying up to you cos he is stuck 12 months. If clause rubbish is to be believed. Might be best for all if you did do new contract with him and take the edge off.
to be fair embarassing for the club but i'm well happy he's not coming. 35m is daylight robbery when you can get him for free (probably not from us) when he's back from injury. Plus i've always said he was overrated. Would prefer to get someone else
If he doesn't sign a new deal now he can't play for the club again, simple as, and he'll rot in the reserves Still funny though.
Not been that bad. The end of the window has been very anti climatical. Loaning out of all our youth has been a bit of a balls. Overall though, Morata isn't a bad replacement for Costa. Bakayoko should be an improvement on Matic. Rudiger and Christensen back will hopefully mean Cahill isn't a regular anymore. Zappacosta no idea. Only other thing would have been nice to keep chalobah as a CM but hopefully Conte but we have options at CM is Conte doesn't decide to be short sighted and uses his options (luiz, cesc in a 3, willian) if bakayoko or kante are not fit
Two things, our Chairman has publicly stated that we no longer have to sell to service a debt to our minority owner and we have new investment from our majority Chinese owner. I take that as being a statement that we are no longer a "selling club, although I do understand fans of other clubs thinking that we still are.
To his overall wealth yes. However in recent years we've seen Roman remove the magic money tree and tried to make us more self sustainable. Only reason why we've been selling players rather than stockpiling them. See Ake, Matic, Chalobah etc etc
