L'Equipe reporting that we refused to enter into negotiations for Aurier until PSG agreed to sign an 'exclusivity clause' that stated the player and his representatives would refuse to speak to Chelsea (specifically) if and when they tried to enter the frame.

Meanwhile, reports claim that a person matching the description of Daniel Levy was last seen pissing on a bonfire supposedly owned by a very wealthy, very angry Russian man.

Reactions: Dier Hard
The Korean Messi, as he was being hyped. I think they've got a buyback though, which is annoying.
A buyback for a player who wasn't even in the Barca squad? Can't see how that doesn't make Barca look like douchebags.

On the subject of Hellas Verona, I couldn't help notice this in their summer activity...
10th July 2017: signed Antonio Cassano on a free transfer
18th July 2017: Antonio Cassano randomly announces his retirement
24th July 2017: Antonio Cassano says he has decided not to retire, but he's leaving Verona anyway
31st July: Antonio Cassano insists he isn't retiring, but he wants to move to a club closer to his family home of Bari
31st August 2017: Bari continue to show no interest in Cassano due to their being in Serie B

Bit conflicted over Llorente potentially joining. On the one hand he's a big striker who can offer us a very different option and has experience, both of which I've long felt we need. On the other hand, having seen how badly Janssen did for us, I have concerns about whether we can fit in a player that doesn't have much pace into the attack. Kane isn't as slow as people think but he also has any lack of pace offset against being completely ****ing brilliant.

Anyone else think we should offer £10m Mamadou Sakho?

Not to sign him or anything, perish the thought, but it would do Palace a favour given the Mousers feeling entitled to £30m for a player they don't want who also wants to join Palace...

12pm update

* Juve and Inter are facing a race against time to sign Moussa Sissoko, both looking at a loan-to-buy deal - while we turned down a Brozovic/Sissoko swap deal...which sounds an awful lot like what I suggested on here in July (CalcioMercato)
* Scoussoko prefers a move to Spurs over Chelsea (BBC Merseyside)
* We're considering a season-long loan for Andre Gomes (various)
* Riyad Mahrez spent last night in a London hotel, and was last seen on a flight to Paris (L'Equipe)
* We're monitoring Maidstone United's 18-year old striker Jack Richards (Daily Wail)

I'm with you on this. Llorente is quality, but +30 and certainly won't improve our speed upfront.
Also, not convinced that we should offload Janssen even if he does come in. We would still be light in out and out towards. He's settled in and it would be difficult to get anyone better as back up for the back up!. Maybe a loan out til January?

The Fail's deadline day blog (so not a credible journalist with sources...) is reporting we're considering a season-long loan for Marcus Edwards

Bony medical at Swansea soon. Vinnie to WBA?
Shouldn't we reject the offer and follow it up by releasing a statement to the press where we come across as being completely ignorant of how transfer payments are structured?

Can't think why that came to mind...

SSN reporting that Llorente will have a medical at Spurs this PM.

Let's hope it's not another Willian!...<grr>

Llorente travelling for his medical.

Here's something I've never understood. People that played in the PL last weekend get a medical and occasionally fail them. Yet people think we are going to (or should) sign Barkley who hasn't played this season and won't for a while because he has a bad injury. How can you sign someone that can't possibly pass a medical?

I can't understand how any club thinks it's worth paying £30m for a player who won't play until December at the earliest who is in the final year of their contract

...with the exception of Arsenal's late entry into the race, as you can almost see Wenger gloating about how he gazumped both Spurs and Chelsea while everyone rightly Photoshops his face onto the following meme
