I think that what he was referring to is that all the scientific advancements will not benefit you when you are dead but people who have faith in God and believe in Heaven(whatever form it may take) believe that we will ascend to a higher plane when we die.

I noticed that. What they don't get is that people who have faith shape their own idea of God and Heaven and it is not about castles in the sky but that when we die we will ascend to a higher plane.
