Some genuine ITK insights from a former classmate of mine who now works at the club. First thing he's ever let slip but I messaged him last night about Barkley after the Chelsea bid went in and he simply responded: "Poch v Levy".

Make of that what you will but I think it's quite obvious. Poch wants him, Levy has been (rightly) put off by:

1) the obscene price tag for a player who will have 6 months on his contract by the time he is fit to play.
2) the fact that he isn't really what we need
3) the fact that he isn't that good

Chelsea opening negotiations at £25m has probably ended our interest. Most people can't see Levy paying more than that anymore and with Everton rejecting the bid, Chelsea's next offer is likely to be £30m+. It may come down to a question of how much Levy trusts his manager, but our chairman has always been intricately involved in transfer business and for once I actually agree with him putting a stop to this nonsense. For all of the reasons above, we need to be looking at othet targets. If we go toe to toe with Chelsea, by 11.00 tomorrow what will happen is the one egg in our one basket will be wearing a royal blue kit. And we won't even have any eggs left to apply to our face.

I have come to accept that this is going to be a very, very disappointing close to the window. But that as usual, no lessons will be learned. I guess no one is perfect and everyone has their flaws and as far as I'm.concerned the way Levy runs the club is as close to perfection as is humanly possible. But the market is his achilles heel.

A journalist that I follow on twitter has said the same thing this morning about Poch v levy. I have to say, I've been extremely impressed with what he's reported so far. Interesting that you're mate has said the same.
Reckon you could text your mate back and ask him for one or two names of players we are after? Seems like the logical thing to do... <whistle>

I agree with Levy's supposed stance on this too. It makes no sense to me either. You never know, maybe levy is thinking the same as a lot of other fans. - addressing the speed in the team.

Like you CK, I have come to the realization that it'll be a disappointing end to the window, topped off by the fact that Chelsea will be performing their annual "nick a target from Spurs at the death" transfer. <laugh>

Lads don't worry.

Uncle Dave's one-legged girlfriend's sister's bastard son who got nicked for poking a sheep did say that Levy is working on a potential deal that no other wannabe ITK would have a sniff of and that if Levy pulled it off it'd be an absolute game changer.

It's gonna happen :emoticon-0103-cool:

FML west brom are in advanced talks for Grzegorz Krychowiak! What a signing that'll be. FairPlay to them. <ok>

Daily mirror saying we've launched a late move for Demarai Gray.

Clickbait headline of the day: Has Tottenham taking Barkley deal to the wire backfired as Chelsea swoop in?

No, because it means we're not paying through the nose to have Scoussoko available just in time for the FA Cup third round. Next!

There's also reports that the Mousers have rejected our bid for Origi. Because that stance has kept hold of Coutinho, hasn't it?

What's everyone final predictions on how the window will shape up?

We might get Foyth and that will be it.

If Aurier gets his permit United will trump us.
Barkley will go to Chelski. (because Chelski's remit is to prevent us from strengthening )

We will attempt last minute panic buys but nowt will come of it.

I'm surprised that City haven't lodged a late gazumping bid for Barkley, not because they want to prevent us from strengthening but because somebody at the club who has a clue carefully explained to Guardiola the dearth of HG players in their squad is a problem - and the fact he's willing to make it worse by chucking away Sterling to sign Sanchez.

:emoticon-0159-music Aaand another one gone, and another one gone...another one bites the dust... :emoticon-0159-music
