It's more likely to be 2 drunken weasels setting fire to a member of the Royal Family.

Doesn't sound very positive...decision due today now tomorrow...in my experience that's not positive.

The second tweet makes it sound even less positive. We basically need someone high up to do us a massive favour, the likes of which happening are more remote than me being named babe of the year by FHM.

What also concerns me about the Aurier move is how Levy's time and energy is probably being disproportionately taken up by these complications, and that we are missing out on multiple other targets as a result.

Getting anyone in government to say "Yes" to anything other than more 'trough' is harder to achieve than the Labours of Hercules.

Only we could be relying on a Pro-Brexit, Anti-Immigrant, Tory Government to grant a work permit to an African who has previous for assaulting the Old Bill.

If they grant it, The Express may have to take Diana off the front page in order to properly convey their disgust.

It says a lot that government departments have two modes:
i.) Saying no, usually very quickly, yet being utterly unhelpful when they do so
ii.) Saying nothing at all, which leaves you hoping that their silence means you have done the necessary but you won't know until the deadlines passes and you haven't been issued with a fine and.or arrested

If you haven't guessed, I've had dealings with the HMRC...

Everton rejected Chelsea's £25m off for Barkley.

I guess that puts our interest to bed as well, **** paying anymore than what they've offered for a guy who's crocked for another few months and with only a year left on his deal.

So ermm.... Oakley-Boothe, you ready yeah?

Course they did. They don't give a toss where he goes as long as they get as much money as possible.
But I still wouldn't be surprised if we end up getting him.

And for me, that would reinforce what I learned from last years window. I don't believe there's a bargain to be had at the end of the window anymore, due to all prem teams getting so much Tv money. You're left with high price tags for who ever is left in the market in a lot of cases.

Im waiting for us to spend £30m+ on him at the death. It'll be like Sissoko MkII. Granted, this one will be a better player, but he's crocked and will make no sense.

Seriously, at this rate every player linked to us is no longer going to be available.

There's been rumours by the usual twats that levy is working on a "special signing". Sure sure <doh>
It's soul destroying to think that even though we all know it's never going to happen, we'll all still have a slight glimmer of hope until 11pm tomorrow night.

So, less than 2 days to go. Every year, I promise myself that the next year I won't be sitting listening to the radio at 11 pm on TDD, with the cats safely locked away and keys to their room and the wine cellar safely locked away from me. Again, this year I will go through the football equivalent of self-flagellation - following Tottenham's fortunes on TDD.

    So, where are we?

Foyth Watch - He's at No. 3 in Sky's TopTransfer rumour thingy..........to sign for Tottenham. This might actually happen. This year's GKN.

Aurier Watch - We're waiting on the Home Office to say "Yes" to an immigrant convicted felon. I gave up on this weeks ago. If we sign this bloke, I'll make an honest tax return.

Barkley Watch - We've spent the entire summer proving to Everton that he's not worth £50m. I expect us to complete that lesson. I have my doubts that Mr Levy will be able to prove that he's worth the 25 Guineas that we're offering.

Surprise Signing - Every year we convince ourselves that he's out there. "Levy's working on Isco" almost had me convinced last year. He was working on Sissoko but he did pull a ratty looking rabbit out of his child sized top hat. I reckon we'll probably go in for Mahrez at 10 pm and fail.

FOR ALL THOSE WHO WILL BE FOLLOWING TDD SOLELY TO SEE MOUSSA SISSOKO DEPART. REMEMBER THIS: THE SPANISH WINDOW CLOSES A DAY AFTER OURS. IF HE'S STILL OURS AT MIDNIGHT THURSDAY WE CAN STILL MOVE HIM ON IN SPAIN........AND GKN.........AND VINNIE

The problem we have with Barkley (for those who are keen to sign him) is that there's interest from Chelsea. If they bid first, we have to match it. Everton' stance all summer is "get as much as possible". Hence a £50m price tag that was slapped on him.
If we match the offer, Everton could reject them, and Chelsea could then easily offer more and we'd need to match it again. Not a game we can afford to play, or one we will win. They will also gazump us with wages, so it gradually becomes a non runner. - and more importantly, a complete waste of time that, right now, we really don't have.

What's everyone final predictions on how the window will shape up?

Personally I think we'll end up with Aurier and Foyth, and that'll be it.
As for outgoing, Sissoko will stay as we'll need him, and so will Janssen.

For me, if this is he case, that's a really poor window from a club who finished second in the premier league.
Other teams have really strengthened on what they already had, and we've made a few replacements and could be stronger defensively overall. - assuming we get Aurier, and he turns out to be similar to Walker. However, we won't have adjusted the squad depth IMO.

If Aurier doesn't sign, it'll have been a total disaster. We'll be much weaker than the previous season.

Some genuine ITK insights from a former classmate of mine who now works at the club. First thing he's ever let slip but I messaged him last night about Barkley after the Chelsea bid went in and he simply responded: "Poch v Levy".

Make of that what you will but I think it's quite obvious. Poch wants him, Levy has been (rightly) put off by:

    1) the obscene price tag for a player who will have 6 months on his contract by the time he is fit to play.
    2) the fact that he isn't really what we need
    3) the fact that he isn't that good

Chelsea opening negotiations at £25m has probably ended our interest. Most people can't see Levy paying more than that anymore and with Everton rejecting the bid, Chelsea's next offer is likely to be £30m+. It may come down to a question of how much Levy trusts his manager, but our chairman has always been intricately involved in transfer business and for once I actually agree with him putting a stop to this nonsense. For all of the reasons above, we need to be looking at othet targets. If we go toe to toe with Chelsea, by 11.00 tomorrow what will happen is the one egg in our one basket will be wearing a royal blue kit. And we won't even have any eggs left to apply to our face.

I have come to accept that this is going to be a very, very disappointing close to the window. But that as usual, no lessons will be learned. I guess no one is perfect and everyone has their flaws and as far as I'm.concerned the way Levy runs the club is as close to perfection as is humanly possible. But the market is his achilles heel.

A journalist that I follow on twitter has said the same thing this morning about Poch v levy. I have to say, I've been extremely impressed with what he's reported so far. Interesting that you're mate has said the same.
Reckon you could text your mate back and ask him for one or two names of players we are after? Seems like the logical thing to do... <whistle>

I agree with Levy's supposed stance on this too. It makes no sense to me either. You never know, maybe levy is thinking the same as a lot of other fans. - addressing the speed in the team.

Like you CK, I have come to the realization that it'll be a disappointing end to the window, topped off by the fact that Chelsea will be performing their annual "nick a target from Spurs at the death" transfer. <laugh>
