Lets be fair here.

We took matip on in january. he offically joined in july. had he dropped with a cruciate we would still have HAD TO PAY HIM.

same for keita. the only difference is its a contract with his club to pay them 48mil next july too... injured or no... simple.

no difference

lewandowski joined bayern in a similar vien everyone knew it and he played for the year with klopp... we all know can is going to juve really. they will sign a precontract in January and he will play for us for 5 months.

I am not sure you are right. All the reports say that he has been sold to LFC, not some retainer like paying 1% on a house. Keita has said he is a Liverpool player playing at Leipzig. I don't think the Germans would have a deal which allowed LFC to walk away next year just for £3m. It is not a good deal for them, especially if they could get a premium of tens of millions.

No. Sale doesn't go forward until July 1st 2018. He's not officially ours yet. This isn't a buy now and loan back for a year deal. There has been no signing. No lean photos, etc. He's not officially ours yet.

Germans WANT us to walk away. They would keep £3mill and the player they don't want to sell. They're only doing this so they get more than the release fee we would exercise anyway next summer.

Keita isn't officially ours yet.

Your posts makes no sense in response to mine?

RB had 3 options.

Sell now for £70m
Sell now for premium plus £45m but keep him for year
Sell next summer for £45m

Yes if they sold him for £70m might get extra 20odd million. But, and it all hypothetical, if they keep him and he helps get CL then that £20m loss will seem like nothing compared to the CL revenue they will get.

Now he could stay and they come mid mid table and it'll seem like a big loss, but they also have Werner and Fosberg and if they sold Keita now would that put worry in their minds that they want to move because they see the ram getting weaker?

i think RB have done very well out of this, in theory loaned him for a year and got above the release clause as payment.

But they could just as easily end up 10th in the league is what i've said. they hugely over performed last year. thats my point its more likely they will do that than be in cl again... they don't have the squad for it!

They have some good uns yes.. and your point the others might start wanting a move is also fair but then again they wanted to move on this summer anyway... so whats changed.

IMO they are purely saving face after thier public outbursts and the player telling them whats what.

We are ignoring the fact he's had a few moment of his won as a player that are not the best in this.

If he got paralysed without the contract tomorrow Leipzig get £3mill for free. They wouldn't be selling him next summer anyway. So haven't lost anything by selling an option.

yeah but if its a done deal, they get the whole lot. Why would they take that risk for 3m.

If he's not injured there will be plenty of clubs to take him at that price

Sure there would be. You're not going to part with a £3 million sum without knowing he isn't a ticking time bomb with a faulty heart.

£3m is pocket change. RB aren't going to let their star player fly all the way to Liverpool and have a medical just for that.

Crystal Palace have agreed an initial £20m fee with Liverpool for defender Mamadou Sakho, according to The Guardian.

The fee could reportedly rise to £30m with add-ons, and is pending a medical.

slightly disappointing fee but the others can't have come in and bid. the add ons must be appearances as palace must be worried he will **** them over too.

we will see.

Lads. There are a few ways to do this legally to protect our position.

Essentially, we have negotiated the right of first refusal from them for a premium.

That means that they have to offer him to us at said price.

On his side, it sounds like he's signed some sort of pre contract agreement with the permission of his club.

Effectively, at 00.01 in the 1st July 2018, assuming full payment is made, his contract shifts to us.

If they sell him to someone else, they've broken the contract and we can sue them. If he signs for someone else or gets a change of heart, ditto...although it would probably only be to recover the premium we've paid and perhaps

You're forgetting Keita has to agree to any move. RB can't just decide anything. The point of a release clause is they get zero say (except Barca-style whinging that the fee must be deposited to a certain account in advance).

Keita has signed for us.

Theyll have even less of a squad to do it if they let him go this year though.

Dortmund have in theory got weaker with dembele going. Hoffenheim don't look strong enough for top 4. Leverkusen have lost their main goal threat in Hernandez.

If RB an keep their squad together which they have done, no reason they should be challenging for 2nd / 3rd.
