I think Klopp wants Keita by all means, waiting till next summer he might not have him, if Barcelona, PSG and even Chelsea are interested.
They also have a more settled season from him rather than him constantly being approached by clubs willing to meet his release clause
meh.... never that simple mate. they had a contract never expecting a huge success last year and have tired to hold on but failed. they won't be in cl for long but they passed the guy from one red bull club to another so quite how they managed to insert the release and not realise where the fees are going i don't know. really they maybe mid table this year irrespective.
yeah... he really rates him so its not the ideal for us but its the next best thing. can plan off back of it.
If he got paralysed without the contract tomorrow Leipzig get £3mill for free. They wouldn't be selling him next summer anyway. So haven't lost anything by selling an option.
I am not sure you are right. All the reports say that he has been sold to LFC, not some retainer like paying 1% on a house. Keita has said he is a Liverpool player playing at Leipzig. I don't think the Germans would have a deal which allowed LFC to walk away next year just for £3m. It is not a good deal for them, especially if they could get a premium of tens of millions.
The only thing is we keep on praying that it does not backfire like a serious injury between now and next summer.
so you think we have taken out specific insurance to cover us for the risk buying a player who is injured and expected to miss at least the next 9 months. I assumed the premium was paid as to secure an agreement that we would buy him next year by meeting the release clause and they would sell to us even if others offered more. In the meantime he would still owned by RBL .
I would think that its an insurance against him never playing again etc. its not that uncommon it seems.. just uncommon to us.
It's no different to buying any other player. I'm sure that we've insured against serious injury.....which could happy to any of our players.
Ffs...everything gone quiet again so we're all just speculating on the Keita deal. They should just ban all gossip and announce who they're buying on 3 different days of the window.
Your posts makes no sense in response to mine? RB had 3 options. Sell now for £70m Sell now for premium plus £45m but keep him for year Sell next summer for £45m Yes if they sold him for £70m might get extra 20odd million. But, and it all hypothetical, if they keep him and he helps get CL then that £20m loss will seem like nothing compared to the CL revenue they will get. Now he could stay and they come mid mid table and it'll seem like a big loss, but they also have Werner and Fosberg and if they sold Keita now would that put worry in their minds that they want to move because they see the ram getting weaker? i think RB have done very well out of this, in theory loaned him for a year and got above the release clause as payment.
