Thought i'd share this as it made me laugh. I mentioned a few weeks ago on Ste's premier league thread about a tommy topper i work with who comes out with all sorts of bollocks when it comes to betting. Well i've had a text this morning from him saying the following, "Hiya, mate just to let you know i've been given a tip for a horse running today, i sort of know one of the owners and he tells me it wins today. Just thought i'd pass it on. The horse is called Squire and runs in the 4:50 at Epsom, the price when i looked was around 8/1, but i backed it last night at 16/1, its already halved in price and expected to be shorter still by the off, so if you're having a go get on now".

I get these sorts of messages from him from time to time and take them with the pinch of a salt they deserve but i just thought i'd share this with it being about Squire.

Morning, crew. It’s your friend and idol Dr Sir Barney Chuckles OBE VC M&S MFI back from the War / God’s own county, Devon / promenading in Barbados with old boy Sandy Lane (delete as appropriate). You may remember me from such threads as ‘J.P. and A.P. are they married yet???’ and ‘How much camper can that Boxing thread on here possibly get???’

Old boy Squire is carrying one ‘eck of a welter impost today, pilgrims. Shouldn’t you nave put up an apprentice rider to allay this weight??? Just a bit of meditative though there.

    Good luck all.

Hahaha, you can smell the bullshit....it was never 16/1, best price was 14/1 and with the two rule 4's you can call that price 15/2 now! No one in his group of owners would tell anyone with that degree of confidence to back the horse, its not like we have been laying him out! You want to be blocking him smokey!

I was very much for giving David Egan the leg up but the trainer wants a pro on board!

How dare you, Sir. An ‘I’ve been told…’ on the ‘Daily Thread’ which was a load of rot! Disgraceful allegation. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more...

He works in a different department to me now so i don't see him all that much. He only has my number because when i worked in the same department i put myself down for overtime and they use a texting system to inform people of any overtime. His texts are not usually 'tips' they're usually after times of his so called big wins or ridiculously unlikely near misses. I just thought i'd share today with it being about Squire, the blatant bullshit of it made me chuckle.

Clamber off your high horse before you get dizzy Barney, i wasn't sharing it as a tip just as a funny story.

I know you weren’t! And nor was I being in the slightest bit critical hence the ‘nudge nudge’ remark.

In the best bit of racing news for a while I see it’s being reported that Fair Eva, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, will return to the track in next month’s Group 3 Sceptre Stakes at Donny.

Things just haven’t gone right for the old girl since she won last years ‘Princess Margaret’ and I’m still full of hope that she will oblige at the very highest level before being slapped on the rump and sent to the breeding sheds. When she obliged in the race named after the old bint Queen's sister for me it was one of those true 'wow' moments you only witness once every few years. Stunning performance as she travelled superbly and then quickened in devastating fashion.

Last year Squire (ridden by Crowley) was beaten 8½l by The Gay Cavalier (slowly away) over C&D, giving him 7lbs. Today he give TGC 4lbs although that one has a 7lb claimer on this time. Since that run TGC has run 25times <yikes> (winning once) - I wonder if he has a stable <laugh>
