Yup. We all want our players to be super loyal. Fact is very few actually are.....99.99% are just mercenary creatures, driven by greedy agents. There is no truer saying that nobody is bigger than the club.....
I don't think we'll look weak at all if we haven't sold him. It tells every other player that throwing your toys out of the pram will NOT get you the move you want....unless we want it to happen......I think we've handled it ok given the circumstance that if he stays, we want him back playing well for us!
Ahhh... we don't need to. We need the player. We all knew the score and danced the same dance with other players we are or were trying to sign.
There's no such thing as loyalty. There is only professionalism which means fulfil your commitment by playing. The only unforgivable thing was missing cl qualifying round for me.
Barca mean **** all to us, to Klopp and to FSG, just because South American players yearn to play for them also means **** all to a club he signed a lengthy contract for on improved financial terms, when he was first told by the club that they were not going to accept any offer Barca put on the table he should have accepted it. But it since then that he's downed tools and tried to force his way out, his family also slated the club and his agent and himself agreed terms with Barca behind LFC's back. I might be old school in attitude but the likes of Shanks, Paisley or Kenny(first time round,)would have kicked his arse out of the door no matter how good he was, but they wouldn't have kicked him in the direction of the club that caused the problem.
I agree. The little tw@t could have cost us CL qualification. Mind you, if he scores the winner (for us ) in the CL final we'll all be swooning over him again
Can't believe the site went down. I was busy the whole day then was sent a text about Keita. Rushed to read the discussion then . Anyway It does feel weird as for soo long we've always watched as the big boys throw around money. Now we seem to be playing at the same table. VVD signed and I'm made up
I wish it was still like that tbh. Football will be the death of itself if it carries on like this.....
We will see which way it does go I suppose. There's a lot of tagging onto off moves in it by itk wannabes I will admit. You turning down 81mil inc add one Incidentally the current info is lemar depends now on origi moving there

Nah it will just change the same way it changed after bosman. Nobody can pay these fees year after year after year... players will do more of what ox and half of arsenal are doing. No Southampton player will sign an extension of a deal again. Clubs like spurs are giving players like alli deal after deal as they play to get them tied down. Players need to be braver it seems.
My point was simply that the reasons you should not sell coutinho to Barca , are , imho very very similar to the reasons we should not sell to you . Doubt he will go this time round , though he will go in Jan I reckon , but we won't be selling to you .
The player will go where he wants to go these days. Obviously. he can change his mind between now and when he's sold but he holds the cards. Personally, what VvD has done is no more appealing to what Couthino has done so you are absolutely right to draw comparisons with the players attitude.
Agree about the extension bit , doubt it will just apply to us though . Seems they are not worth the paper they are written on , but what is these days ?
