Stephens stepped into Fonte's shoes, and we've brought Bednarek to take Stephen's place as a promising youngster. So we had VDV, Fonte, Yoshida and Stephens, and now we have Hoedt, Stephens Yoshida and Bednarek so as far as number goes, nothing has changed. Except probably the overall quality has dropped. I'm not counting Gardos because he's here only because nobody wants him apparentlly, and VDV could still stay here. But we don't need anyone if they both leave , we're all set. I don't understand the desire to hoard players.
Either I'm having a Deja Vu moment, or you've asked that before. It's a relative thing. If you were lying badly injured, by the side of the road, having been knocked down by a car, and Virgil Van Dijk walked up to you, you'd think, 'bugger, if only he was a doctor'. However, if said doctor had Sadio Mane trying to get away from him to score, you'd think 'bugger, if only he was Virgil Van Dijk'. Because we know what happened when Sadio Mane tried to get away from VVD. He didn't make it.
Why I said probably. It is up to Stephens etc to prove they deserve to be first team. For now they aren't. I know how much Stephens is rated. I have been on about him for years aha.
Is there enough time to print his name on the back of the shirt for tomorrow's game? Either for Wesley, or for any 'get the latest item' fans?
