I think the 'maybe' safely implies he isn't being serious.

I have never understood that bit, what do you expect him to do, just stand there. the chances of us getting into the CL never mind winning it is slim, its our biggest game of the season, and he was probably fearing for his job at the time, and even if he wasnt 2 defeats against a newly promoted Newcastle side, I dont think most would have been happy about that, if he had ran along the touchline and done a Mourinho, or ran onto the pitch and done a Stokoe, i wouldnt have cared.

I must admit, I found it a bit ridiculous doing that.

We thrashed you guys 5-1 in our first season back, and the absolute LEAST you guys should have got was a win against us in your own stadium to make up for it. However, that plan was out of the window for most of the match, and Gyan luckily got an equaliser in injury time. The two derbys at a whole aren't something to be proud of one bit for Sunderland, and if I were Bruce, I would have still been very dissapointed by the result, even if it was a draw, certainly not jumping for joy.

If Newcastle got battered by you guys and then barely scraped by with a draw in our 'revenge' game and Pardew was running around in ecstacy, I'd be pissed off with him.

But... why? It's dropping the standards down from expecting two wins to being desperate not to face two defeats. Where's the pride?

For me, a defeat of that calibre is bad enough - nevermind not making up for it with a win in the home ground. I'd be ****ed off that we got beat 5-1 in the first place, and then EVEN more ****ed off that the same players couldn't pull their fingers out in the 'revenge' match to get a win - instead barely scraping by with a draw.

I just wouldn't think it was good enough really. I wouldn't let that last minute equaliser get in the way of the fact that Bruce would have some serious questions to answer for the first game, and then more questions for the second.

    hmm just imagining it now.

We beat you 3-0 say on Saturday, we are then 1-0 up at your place, and shola pops up with a 94th minute equaliser, would the newcastle fans just sit there moaning into their brown ale, or would they ****ing bring the house down?

Believe me, I'd be relieved, but I wouldn't be happy though. I'd be happy with two wins and content with a loss then a win to make up for it, but a big loss and then BARELY getting through with a draw just isn't good enough. The players responsible would have let the club down when they should be giving it 150% in both matches.

You would still jump around like a crazy fool at the time of the goal, afterwards you may think that, but at the time you will celebrate with the rest of them, and if you say no i bet you would be the only mag not to (i know i would and did when it was the other way around).

sorry mr chapplin, you have lost all credability. You must be very bored tonight trying to start an arguement (not a discussion) over past history which has been done to death so many times already.

try to think of a subject which will stimulate discussion. If you want recent history, how about who is to blame for the demise of the mags (from being a top 6 club)
Is it Mr Sports Direct or was it really mr shepherd, spending money the club didn't have?
Do you have a sensible view on this?
