If he has signed then we're fan bound to give him a chance. He is a good player I know so maybe we shouldn't compare him to Siggy or throw the disdain we're building towards the board at him. He could end up being just one of maybe two or three more signings yet to come before the window finally closes. If that's the case then I'd be happy, depending on the other signings of course. I'm gonna keep my bullets in my socks and see how things go.
He's not worth £5 Million, and nowhere near Siggy's standard, just an expensive Jinx cheap transfer again!.....................
I think it could end up a good signing. we shouldn't compare anyone we sign to Siggy as I believe we are not looking for a direct replacement. However, I think we do need to sign a bit of creativity from somewhere as we don't have much at the moment, if this is in the form of a wide player or a 10 I don't mind. if this guy signs lets give hi a chance to show how good he is, you may be pleasantly surprised. On another positive if this happens soon at least we are in the transfer market. Mind you I said the same thing about Bob Bradley.
Disagree with you there Phil, Clucas is well worth £15m and with the inflated prices of this crazy market we're currently in probably £20m plus. Hulls valuation will be even more of course as he is their heartbeat. I've switched to a positive mind set for the time being so the timing of Siggys sale was awful but we did get an enormous amount of money for him. If we use that to buy a striker, Bony, a RB, Arias and a midfielder Clucas or A.N. Other then that would be a 3 for 1 trade-off I could really live with. We cant see the full picture yet so think positive Phil we've got a whole season ahead and we're playing premier league football, it may well be our last so enjoy it.
Reports are Chelsea are renewing interest in Llorente. Allen is going nowhere. City have turned down our offer for Bony. Clucas may be too high a price and has been recently reported we've dropped our interest. Santiago Arias strongly linked but is that to push up his chances of Spurs especially if Rose leaves as is expected. Chadli - all gone quiet so there might be someone happening there. TBH anything or nothing could happen before Sept. My view is none of the players we have been linked with fire my imagination and sadly, none appear to be a result of Clement's connections. (Abraham is but imo he is a development project) We could scrape survival again with a goalscorer and good luck with injuries & suspensions but I'm till not convinced Clement will be with in December. (Hope he is as he could be good if given time.)
The bottom line is Siggy wanted to go according to his stated conversations with Clement and Swans officials. Regarding all the negative comments about Clucas. Have you guys seen him play because all I've seen are snippets on MOD and from them he didn't look too bad. We are never going to make the big money signings that the top clubs do and it is unrealistic to think we will.
Breaking News on SSN Hull accept Swansea bid for Clucas. Fee could rise to £16.5m pounds. I'd say that makes it about £12-£13m then? http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/08/2...hopeful-of-signing-sam-clucas-from-hull-city/ Link saying medical today?
TBH, Baston came with a terrific goal scoring record. Don't think he fitted into Guidolins style of play and as for Bob, well.... I think he'd have been a succesful signing had Clement been in charge from the start.
That's a difficult one as they're two different positions. We've already signed a striker in Tammy who scored quite a few goals in the Championship last season. I'd rather us pursue Bony than Wood.
I take on board what you say Stumpy, but I honestly do not rate this lad, and see him as a clear step down, and the figure that Hull are asking for a Championship player is a joke, his transfer value is £5 Million or under, Burnley offered over his value and were turned down, I hope we do not offer what is being reported as he is not an improvement on what we already have................
Just asked the Hull lads and they say he's a hard working reliable player. Nothing special about him. I would have paid £8-£10m tops
Solid and stood out in a relegated team. The sort of player imo who who would have offered competition to our misfield before Sigurdsson's departure. What has disappointed me are Clement's comments about the situation doing 180 degree shift & the club not having made contingency plans for his replacement. I find it impossible to believe Clucas was on our wide list in May.
Phil, but how many times of you seen him play. It doesn't really excite me, but who knows. we saw him possibly at the start and the end of last season against us. the guy may turn out to be a very good signing. I think we have paid over the top for him, but that isn't his fault. it our thick board, for not signing him in june, knowing that siggy wouldn't be staying instead of waiting till clubs can hold us to ransom as they know we need signings.
