Old boy, Marcus Tregoning is not a regular visitor to God’s own racecourse, Newton Abbot, but he’s a runner at the venue of the morrow, pilgrims. Lady Vesta, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, in the Bumper, the ‘lucky last’ (5.00). Lady Vesta is unraced but the dam was a 6 time winner for the barn. Unusual runner but a most interesting one, methinks.

Another filly who catches the eye at God’s own racecourse would be Newt (2.00) in the card commencer (2.00) who is in receipt of weight all round from the one colt and the seven old boy geldings. A winner in June for that old rogue, Prescott, Newt was also just beaten a short-head on her final run for that barn last month. As that was over 14 furlongs and she battled all the way to the line Newt should have no concerns going 2 miles over the sticks and she looks an interesting recruit to the NH game for Dave Dennis. Lovely bred filly as well as Newt’s dam is a half-sister to Australian Grade 1 winner, Beaten Up, and also Harris Tweed who won Newbury’s John Porter and 3 Listed races.

Good luck, team.

LADY VESTA is homebred and owned by the Pakenhams who usually stable most of their horses with Lucy Wadham. Pernickety, Bolivia and Watered Silk among their list. This one has ended up with Tregoning and I am pretty sure that he has had horses from them before. First time cheekpieces doesnt exactly fill one with confidence but the booking of the very useful 7lb claimer is interesting. Best of luck Barney.

Who wants to read about trotting? Nobody? Ahhh well. At Enghien my old mate Valko Jenilat goes around this afternoon. I thought that over the 2875m, he'd run one hell of a race in the G2 event. When I saw the 11-2 about him, I thought it party time .... until I saw the 7 Aubrion Du Gers who enters the race on the back of 15 wins from his 18 starts. So I suppose the quinella is all the go.

4 Valko Jenilat
7 Aubrion Du Gers.

Quinella.

Crowley riding 2 newcomers in each division of the Novice Stakes. Go on then.
1.50 Caviar Royale
2.20 Laubali
Each Way Double, ho ho! ( and a little each way single on the second named )
Can Billesdon Bess rise to the occasion in the 3.50 feature at the same racecourse? Worth a play, I'd say.

Surely Beverley Bullet wins the 4.40 at ............. Beverley!
( "Friendless" Fahey also has some interesting runners at that racecourse today, watch with interest )

If I get anything there, I might just allow myself a look at the 6 races this evening at good old Bangor.

Enjoy and Good Luck all.

7 wins from 4. Probably paid bugger all for the quinella. I think the quinella is called a couple.
