Brenda from Bristol said...."Oh not Joe Allen again, have the board run out of options and ideas" Im sure I read somewhere the season starts tomorrow!
The players', or ex players' for that matter, we're being linked with continually every transfer window, has Jenkins 'meddling' all over it, still. Where's Clements influence?? How the fvck as a Premier League Club, embarking on our 'SEVENTH' continuous season with a £100m+ income from Sky/BT, that's without sponsorship too, do we have to sell our best player, to bring his replacements in?? What an effin embarrassing & shambolic situation, I for one am sick of the way our club operates. It's as if they are intentionally attempting to make us all fall out of love with this 'Great Club'!! If the Club had no intention of letting Siggy go, they would grow some & tell Everton to stick their cash where the sun don't shine!!! They've had their chance, now tell them to 'FVCK OFF'!!!! We're not playing our best 'contracted' player tomorrow because of them & the greedy slimy 'Ham Shanks', while making sure once we do sell, all other Clubs' will be rightly rubbing their hands with glee to rip us off too, disgraceful... All the time the silence coming from the club is deafining..
Liverpools owners have come out today and said their best player in not for sale too. As you say Swan, the silence from the club is deafening. We must be the only club trying to force out our best player, because, the owners are not prepared to dip their hands into their pockets and fund new signings.
But it's highlighting further that Gylfi is being forced out because of this. I had a look on PS last night for the first time in a while and he's getting a lot of stick on there.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/swansea-set-launch-20m-bid-10969018 Going back with a £20m bid for Joe. I take it then the Gylfi deal is done now.
100% right. Do we need Joe Allen when Mesa, hopefully, will fill the defensive midfield role, Tom Carroll the box to box role and Ki, Fer and Routledge to be the attacking midfielders. There are other positions, right back, striker/wide man who we need more.
Exactly. If a player is desperate to leave this is what they do. Mahrez, VVD and Couthino have all handed in transfer requests. If Gylfi is as desperate to leave, and kicking up a fuss behind the scenes as some suggest, why hasn't he handed in a transfer request too?
There's no way Stoke would part with Joe, even if we made an offer a month ago they'd have turned it down. So, just why have we bid for him now? Could be a phony bid designed to make it look like we're being proactive in the transfer window when we've been anything but. Smoke and mirrors
We've "gone " in for Joe knowing full well we won't get him but at least jerkins can say in his programme notes , "well we tried "
Thing is, whoever we bring in to replace Sigurdsson if he goes, will be a downgrade anyway. Anyone as good as him will also have a massive price tag and already been scoped by the wealthier clubs. So, yes, Chadli is not as good, but that's what selling your best player means.... you are weaker as a team.
I can accept them selling him, but it doesn't mean you have to weaken your team. You can bring in 3 better players than we all ready have and actually be stronger, but we just wont do that.
Are there better players though for our budget? Losing Gylfi means we need to replace his goals, his assists and his work rate. I can't think of any AMs that put in a shift like he does.
Yes his goals are a big loss, but if we are stronger in other areas and we concede less goals we don't need to score as many. we conceded somewhere around the 70 mark last year. well if we are stronger defensively and concede say 50 goals we don't actually have to score as many to win games. Losing your best player, for me doesn't necessarily mean you are worse. Providing we re invest. The problem comes when you don't reinvest that money and try and plug the gap by signing a second rate siggy. Ac Milan won serie A scoring only 36 goals, but only conceded 15. If we keep clean sheets then we at least come away with a point.
