As VVD wants to go Saints should try and make the best of it. What is the better option £58m from Chelsea, or a lesser sum and Sakho from us? I would be interested to know which the Saints fans would prefer

Think a lot of Saints fans aren't keen on Sakho because of the wage he'd demand. Maybe if he took a pay cut?

Correct. I'd take Sakho but he would have to drastically reduce his demands.

We're linked with Wesley Hoedt from Lazio, might be easier if you lot just sign him?

Sakho and £30m? <whistle>

Nah I'll pass. Rate Sakho but reckon we'd get about the same much cheaper abroad.

Like I said earlier, the board can't really sell him to you without looking a bit silly after all this.

They'll come for him in January when VvD realises an injury could shorten his career so he will need to move (again) to a big club that can win things.
He is very ambitious you know <ok>

Very strange that he didn't realise he could injured playing football. Also note how it says he's been asking for this move for 6 months. So didn't even get through one year of his 6 before changing his mind. Happily took the captaincy in January too.

What is the more "silly" selling a player for £50m when you could have got £60m?

He won't be going anywhere for £50m.

To answer your question though yes I'd rather take a bit less and him not go to you.

Petty you may say yes, but enough is enough quite frankly.

I don't think we'll actually make a bid until some other club does, which will probably be Chelsea. And then he'll be more interested in signing for them and we'll then miss out. <doh>

I'd love to be proved wrong ofc.

Apparently Chelsea have/are about to bid around £58m.

Both would be very silly, the original price mentioned was £70m, it should go up now for all the trouble it's caused.

Trouble brought on oneself whereas a simple call saying you want the player you call me now buy him for 70 or **** off would have ended the whole thibg.

The thing is

Saints board didn't already look silly already... small time and whiny?
