Thats like saying Wes Brown is the best defender ever because United won 3 back to back titles with him and then finished 2nd when they sold him to Sunderland.
He's had some kind of episode recently. He's been chatting **** across various threads.
He might as well have said;

Cantona for me will always be the king.
The team was struggling for confidence and missing that last piece of the jigsaw puzzle. He came along, was the catalyst that brought everything together and led to the beginning of an era of domination by United. His impact was massive.
He wasn't the highest goal scorer, the best tackler, the fastest player but his presence was always felt in the United team and he towered over everyone else in terms of creativity and confidence. Rooney record breaker was a Pygmy in comparison.

Absolutely. I'd find it hard to argue he was better as an individual than player Ronaldo, Keane, Henry and others, but certainly in terms of his influence on the team he was ahead of all barring maybe Keane.
He took a team in 92 which arguably wasn't good enough or ready enough for the league and led them from 10th to the title. I know we had a lot of quality at the time, but a lot of average as well (Cantona replaced Darren Ferguson in the starting line up for ****'s sake).
Everyone bangs on about Gerrard never having played in a team which was good enough to win the title, Cantona played in one which, imo, wasn't good enough and won it anyway. That's the sign of a truly great player.
Cantona and Keane were very important to the progression of the Class of 92 as well. Their winning mentality and their desire and determination no doubt influenced the likes of Giggs and Scholes.
Players like that knew a game was never finished until they were back in the dressing rooms. There's no way in hell the same 6 boys would have had the success on the pitch that they had if the likes of Cantona and Keane didn't show them how to beat your opponents before a ball was even kicked.
