It's unlike Gylfi to throw a tantrum, my guess is that there was more than a circus going on around him, with him being pulled between Everton, his agent and the Swans. At the end of the day the Swans put him on the market for a fee after he signed a long contract. My gut reaction would be to look at the people/circumstances surrounding that period before I disciplined him - and I doubt if Clement will.

The time line has become so blurred now, but your post is a valid one. However, Sigurdsson is a highly paid professional footballer, and as such has a responsibility to the Club, his team mates, the supporters, both USA residents and those who made the long journey, and to himself, to carry out the role he is employed to do. He is a hero to many, and to cry off because his "head wasn't right" wasn't very heroic. Just my opinion, of course. Perhaps I expect too much from him.
