Lvoving the optimism on this thread. You guys are great for a good laugh. Really fun bunch of posters
I take it you don't use the PL board? Buzzy always has a Meltdown, occasionally a Sky Meltdown. We love him really and hate seeing him
Expect less and enjoy it even more if we get better is the way This is why it must be painful to be a 'it's our year this year' Liverpool fan
You say that John boy. But this year could well be our year. How are you mate? Not seen you around much, hope you and yours are well
Let's hope mate I'm good pal, you?, combination of busy personal life having got married 3 weeks ago and since been decorating the house and the fact the prem board seems to have gone to the dogs a bit close season. Hopefully there'll be more going on there when the season starts. TBH this board has had more happening on it recently.
Fosse? ... the supporter of one of only 6 teams to have ever won the EPL title? ... soumds like he has something to support such claims ...
My thoughts are that we should comfortably finish in the top ten ....we showed againmst the likes of you and City at home last season that we are more than capable if we are on our game ... the last few games exposed our frailty as we had no real back up with both Huth and Morgan out ... So the optimistic side would like to see us challenging for 6th 7th ... but top ten in Shakey's first full season in charge will do. Very happy with the signings so far and if we can get Iheanacho over the line then I'll be very pleased indeed - some great younsters coming through too You?
Surely you should be aiming higher than that? what with your signing of the 'poor man's Mahrezz' plus another player, not quite good enough for Chelsea? Would you like a friendly little wager? ... £10 to charity on Leicester City finishing below 12th from your perspective?
Mate I too think Spurs will struggle at Wembley as they don't play well there at all.... also you have to factor in most of their opponents bringing their " A" game because they're playing at Wembley plus the little matter of UCL football = a toxic mix of 41+ away games ?
You can do basic maths just like I can though and since promotion we've recouped £387m and spent less than £120m, can't be arsed to work it out properly but it's no more and that's going into a club that's debt free. We're above Everton in the rich list because we have more money and this is backed up by the fact that we're outbidding them for Sigurdsson and offering him more money, as I said we would. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-try-hijack-Everton-bid-Gylfi-Sigurdsson.html It's "traditionally" a bigger club but we've won more in the last two decades and once we extend the stadium it'll be bigger than theirs. Yeah they plan to build a new stadium but that's all it is at the moment. Our extension is more than a plan, it's awaiting planning approval. They still need investors to pay for it, not like our owners who will fork out £150m including the complex. Spurs have struggled at Wembley because it's not conducive to the way they play, this is why WHL has the smallest pitch in the PL. Playing Hull isn't a great example because they're crap, it'll be how they do against the top 10 sides that'll be the issue, the bottom 10 they'll still beat I'd imagine. They won't be challenging next season not a chance and I reckon lucky for top four. Playing at a different stadium isn't easy. look at West Ham.
Winning the league would be a ridiculous prediction, wouldn't it? With the top 7 in Europe and most of them without squads capable of competing on all fronts, top four isn't that ridiculous. Until we had no defence or midfield Shakey picked up 2.2/ppg for the first 10, including rotating for CL games. He ended with 1.76/ppg which would be enough for 67 points and we've shown that we have the consistency to perform like that so I wouldn't be writing us off. Sadly the odds are crap, I was hoping to win some coin but the bookies have more sense now and are only paying $26 for top four and $9 for top six, hardly worth betting.
I think it's between us and yourself for 8th. Can see Everton finishing about 5/6 points in front in 7th.
I wouldn't put any trust in the Daily Fail - note that they haven't said anything about any bids only "we are willing to offer £125k" which probably comes from a bloke in a pub. I don't want him anymore tbh - is a class player but he didn't do anything when we made an offer for him but the instant that Everton do he got light headed. Am surprised that we haven't gone back for Adrien Silva - is transfer listed for £26M and might be willing to forgo European football to join us.
Leicester will pay more because Everton have a wage cap of £100k apparently, as was reported via many media outlets, which he was offered and rejected back in May. We have no wage cap and we will offer him more money, no doubt about it because as I keep saying, we have more money than them. You see what happened very differently to what actually happened because Everton moved first back in May and he wasn't interested. They then made a £32m bid which we blew away only for them to match it not outbid. I mean what did they think was going to happen? They'd refuse our bid but accept theirs? No of course not, I think they were banking on him handing in a transfer request and forcing a move but he hasn't. It's all media bullshit about his preference for Everton because he doesn't talk to anyone according to the journos who report on Swansea so where that's come from is anyone's guess but it's unsubstantiated. People just assume and go with it but Everton are nothing special and I fully believe that our future will be better than theirs, just as the past 20 years have been. I wanted Silva but we signed Iborra who I think is the better player for our team and this league with his physicality and way better value at less than half the price. Excellent recruiting in my book.
Why can you? What's special about Everton? Where are Lukaku's 25 goals coming from and will the next six manage more than 21 between them? Big ask for Klaassen that or is Rooney the man? Maybe it's the unproven Sandro? I honestly do not see the fuss about Everton but I'm interested to know why you rate them. Also would you be happy to have spent £97m and got their players for our squad? I'd be well disappointed personally and I'd be moaning like buggery. As it is I'm well happy because Maguire outperformed Keane and Gibson last season in almost every area and we got him half price. Iborra I'd have all day over Klaassen and again half price. Ilheanacho well I don't get why Everton aren't after him because he would be the ideal Lukaku replacement but no they get Rooney, Sandro and ????? they want Giroud but I don't think Wenger wants to sell him and he linked up really well with Lacazette apparently so I don't think they will sell him. Palace won't sell Benteke either. I can't see them adequately replacing Lukaku's 25 goals and without them they would have been near relegation, fact! One man team!
Where have you seen those reports about Everton? Is it is New Zealand press as I've seen nothing here in the UK about them having any wage cap since they got a new billionaire shareholder last year - care to post some of them media reports here? Also it was reported here in the UK that we were the first to bid for Sigurdsson and then Everton bidded after us - in fact our local paper reported that we a good couple of weeks ago http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/l...everton-move/story-30439138-detail/story.html As for what Everton expected - exactly what you wrote as they were able to provoke a reaction from Sigurdsson which will encourage them to bid higher. As we didn't get a reaction, maybe that is the reason why we haven't followed up. BTW it was widely reported that Everton offered Lukaku £140k p/w to stay here in the UK http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39273691 Out of interest what do your sources say about Rooney's contract if they say Everton have a wage cap? FYI media here in the UK say Rooney is on around £150k p/w and also Everton are willing to offer Sigurdsson the same deal http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gylfi-sigurdsson-wayne-rooney-everton-10813281
