http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/colum...-de-gea-at-manchester-united-115875-23350867/ I hope this is an article we can look back at and ridicule come the end of the season.
He's a Liverpool fan but more importantly an idiot. Back in 2009 he said: Man Utd won the league in 2008-09, league cup in 2008-09. Hardly a poor 2009.
Sounds like KPR. He also calls Berbatov a flop, the same Berbatov who was Premiership top scorer last season
It is a poor article and the one from 09 is the same. De Gea will get better with time. It is a worry for you that Vidic and Ferdi will not be in front of him for a while but something tells me you will pick up some points (you always bloody do!).
Smalling is more than good enough to stand in, not seen much of Jones but I'm confident he'll be a capable stand in too!
From what I understand Vidic will be only be missing for up to 2 weeks, and reports are saying that the injury isn't as bad as first thought, Ferdinand I heard 6 weeks but to be honest this season I don't think he will be as much as a miss, don't get me wrong he's still a top class defender but at 32 with regular injury problems I suspected he would be rotated a lot this season anyway, and Smalling is more than capable of playing alongside the experience of Vidic when he's back, and Evra should be back for the Spurs game which is a huge bonus. As for De Gea, I don't think anybody was naive enough to think he was going to come into this league at 20 and be as good as Van Der Sar, but with a good set of coaches behind him every single game (and every single mistake) will give him crucial experience that every keeper needs, I still have no doubt that he will be a top class keeper in a few years time and will, as Casillas said, be pushing for Spain's number 1 shirt.
And then hopefully we can remind people who've already written him off of what comments they made (not naming any names).
The words "impartial" and "journalism" generally don't come within sight of each other in either football reporting or tabloid reporting. So when it's tabloid football reporting you're lucky if the guy even pretends to be impartial. Which this guy obviously isn't, given that he claims that Rio getting injured for six weeks is a good thing... Although I do love how he uses the word "glee", in the hope that his readers think it rhymes with "de Gea". I guess most Mirror readers probably think it does
How do you pronounce it? I've heard De Gee, De Gee-a and De Gay-a (said as it's wrote). I think it's the last one but I'm not sure, but I know that in Spain they sometimes make the e sound different (Jose Enrique).
The G is pronounced like the ch in "loch", the e like the ay in "play" and the a like the a in "Yaya". So overall it's like "de Khay-a". It's definitely not de Gee! http://www.forvo.com/word/david_de_gea_quintana/ You can also hear a Spanish commentator pronounce it like that a 0:09 here:
Thats the problem with football - guaranteed every team you play are gonna be trying their luck with long shots and crowding the keeper every time they get a set piece. In my opinion he needs to be left out and given the time he needs to develop.
"The way to criticise goalkeepers is to label them âgood shot-stoppersâ as it implies everything else about their game is awful." In fairness to the journalist, he's good at spelling.
