It seems unfortunate, yes. On the other hand, why do people object to athletes making lots of money, but not movie stars? IMO, Harry Kane is far more worthy of being rich than Tom Cruise. And that's not just when viewed through Spurs-colored lenses. Tom Cruise is nowhere near the best actor in the world, while Harry Kane was demonstrably the best striker in the PL.

You are right on that comparison but it also feels to me that players benefit from the almost addictive need of fans to watch their team whereas going to a movie is more of a free choice.

And Harry Kane's not involved with an extremely dubious cult that treats him like the messiah and everyone else as peasants.
Other than Spurs, of course! <laugh>

I think that we've always tended to have one or two players like that in our side, going back quite a while.
King, Modric, Bale, Kane and the like join those in your list.
The problem's been that it's always pretty obvious who they are and they get picked off.
The squad balance is better now, so they're more likely to want to stay and harder to nick.

probably because when you go to watch tom cruise (if you are a fan) it only costs you 15 quid at the cinema whereas when you watch your footballing heroes at the ground its going to cost you ~£80 up for a full day EVERY single match.

Even sky is at a ridiculous cost

Burnley will be playing in green soon.
Just signed Jon Walters taking the number of ROI internationals in their squad to five.

Not a very forward looking signing, but I like Walters.
Works his arse off and scores a respectable number of goals for a player who doesn't necessarily start.

Is it possible Sissoko will get his finger out this coming season or is he that limited?

Exactly. There's nothing dubious about it.

Romelu Lukaku ran into a spot of bother this week, with the cops popping over to the Beverly Hills mansion he was renting due to repeated complaints about the noise from neighbours, and after ignoring at least five complaints he found himself listening to the LAPD when they came round to slap him with a citation.

Sounds like he's getting ready to join Chelsea then...

No "cargo cults" (or should that be Chelsky cu*ts) at Spurs.

It probably says something about me that my main takeaway from this was Everton's kit has way too much fiddly **** on the sleeves...

It looks like someone's draped some old bar mats on his shoulders.
It's also the wrong blue, isn't it?

It's like Umbro looked at the Persian design on most Iran kits and thought that would be a good look for the Catholic side of Merseyside.

Farhad Moshiri is Iranian. Makes sense that the kit has echos of a persian rug.

I've often wondered about his Irish name.He certainly looks Irish.Did his parents come over after the war or earlier?.....and could he have represented Ireland?
I remember our former full back Hughton playing for Ireland but can't remember why. Galvin too,I think.
I'm trying to think of Spurs first Irish international.I'm thinking Jackie Kirwan,if I've got the name right.
I remember an Irish right winger we had about 1954/5.Very fast.Got the ball and went for their touchline, unlike today's wingers who get a pass and gives it back to the fullback.Johnny Gavin by name.I think he came from Norwich but only stayed about a year and returned to Norwich.Shame.I liked him.Good player....

An old Irish friend always told me that Liverpool is the Capital of Dublin. Take that as you will.

He is of Irish decent - as many in Liverpool are.
Blame the potato famine and the British government.
