Serious suggestions ... Montenegro, Italy, somewhere in the Aegean, Pyrenees region
 
Chamonix is very good too. Known more as a ski resort it's really nice in summer (if you aren't climbing lol)

Always festivals, concerts going on. Loads to do.. kids parks, water park...loads of walks...white water rafting, river bouldering etc... cable cars up to great views and across to italy ...the mountain train etc.. train into Switzerland.

Bit dearer to eat and drink out but plenty of shops, lovely patisserie etc
