I didn't say it would go bad, I said if it went bad would that be a good move? It wouldn't because no doubt the next manager would prefer Costa to Llorente because he's the much player when it comes to winning.

Fergie's ego got rid of Stam back in the day, all top managers have an ego and like it or not they all make mistakes and the best are humble enough to admit theirs.

Not necessarily. We might get a weak manager like klippery klopp who would ostracise Costa as he couldn't handle him and his unprofessionalism (see sahko).

All hypothetical anyway, i acknowledged replacing costa with llorente is a bad move. Chelsea might be better off playing their mini marvels. We scored 10 goals in 3 matches in the PL without costa in the side.

So if he replaces Costa with Llorente, things go bad and Conte gets sacked (cos that's what happens to PL winners these days) then that's a good move all round?

Conte needs to wind his ego in imo, if the rot sets in he'll be dropped like a bad habit.
And if he replaced him and things go well?

Merely that they have a lot to prove still when they come up against the very best ... as such, Matth's level of expectation my just be a tad optimistic (jingoistic) ... will a combination of Pogba and Lukaku take United to being Champion's League winners? ... I wouldn't expect Barca, Real, Bayern, Juve, PSG and the like to be trembling at the thought of playing a team with the pairing in it ... that's about it.... just keeping it real and in perspective.

Thankfully we'd have another 9 players on the pitch.

Nobody was scared of any of Leicester's players were they, but they won the league.

None of that makes a convincing argument for selling him though. He scored 22 goals for you last season. Conte should be working harder to keep him.

As I say though, I'm not complaining. You will be weaker without him.

Not if he doesn't want to be here. Also we won't necessarily be weaker, depends who we replace him with.

Like i said we had no problems scoring when Costa was out of the side. Also getting rid of one of your better players doesn't necessarily mean a downturn in fortunes. United went onto be very successful after they sold their goal machine in Van Nistelrooy, Mourinho won Inter the treble after selling world class talent in Ibrahimovic

Klopp doesn't like strikers.

Good luck with that <ok>

I will be more than happy to get into a gentlemans bet with you. Chelsea will finish higher than Arsenal with or without Costa in the team.

I will take your Avatar for a month

I think you'll finish above us too <laugh>

You were just banging on about how much weaker we'd be without Costa and how you've got a fine keeper/defence/midfield/strikeforce <laugh>

You will be weaker without Costa.

If he replaces him with Llorente and that ends up a good move for Chelsea then he deserves every bit of credit. My point is that strikers like Costa are rare and usually unobtainable, strikers like Llorente are ten a penny and will always be available.

If Conte wants Costa gone so badly, I'd have no problem taking him to United for £40m - you'll get no more than that because Conte has laid his hand out for all to see.

You will be weaker without Costa.

So just to be clear is it:

Your players that you don't have faith in or is it Wenger you don't have faith in to finish above us?

If its the players is it specifically your GK, Defence, Midfield, Wingers, Strikers etc that you don't believe in?

As you'll be weaker without Sanchez.

You take him to United then. <laugh>

None of the above. If there's a danger that Chelsea finish below us, then you'll simply outspend us.
