Cheers for the highlights. I really don't love the way the SKY presenter makes it seem as if it's all forgettable stuff. It's that, oh it's not a top 4 Prem side, so it's not worth getting all smiley about it attitude. And will a manager accept that they've been outplayed or what..? I expected more from Paul Jewell. Sure his team defended badly. They were made to look bad. They didn't do it all on their own.
Back from the match - still cannot believe what I saw this evening. Though for that 10-15 minute spell that we'd throw it away, but luckily the game settled down and we were able to get our grip back on it - and went on to score two more goals. Just looked through the posts on here - emotional roller-coaster to say the least!!
Great performance guys, one of, if not the best perfomance I have seen at this level. Although don't expect it so easy in most championship games our 2 Cb's were and are awful player, especially Delaney. Its early days as of yet but i very much expect you to be challenging the top 2 this season and I hope you do, especially playing football like that. I wish I was a neutral tonight as it would have been a great game.
Thanks for the highlights! Lambert's first goal was brilliant. The way he controlled it and used his quick feet to play a one-two with Connolly was magic. His second goal was also a quality finish and good play from Lallana. Guly deserves a lot of credit for setting up our 3rd goal. Schneiderlin made a superb pass to Lallana for the 4th and the 5th goal was just class! I'm just staggered by our performance tonight and the resilience we showed after Ipswich came at us like that. Lets make it 4 wins out of 4 on Saturday. Can't wait!
Went to the ipswich game tonight and i just wanted to let you know that we were AWESOME!!! Great atmosphere and a great game,just a shame about an idiot ipswich fan having a go at a bloke and his daugher after the game about how we weren't gloating last year,i dunno what he meant because we got promoted last year,think he meant when we were in administration,bad loser!
It's great reading messages like this. As Saints fans we can happily go on about how much we like the football we play but it's only when our team receives compliments from other fans that you know things are going well. Best of luck in the rest of the season, honestly thought you were going to be the club to kill our momentum and finally my nightmares about Chopra can stop until we next face you!
Must confess I have been more than a little impressed with Saints so far. You were a top side in League 1, just a shame about the points deduction or you would have promoted the season before. I know it is early days but is this just the momentum thing or do you now think you can emulate us Budgies this season?
Personally I'll say momentum that isn't going to last. I'd love to see us go up - we have similarities with Norwich in that our team spirit is top notch which is a real driving force, but it remains to be seen whether it will come off for us. I think we're two signings short of being serious contenders.
Does anyone remember that Ring of Fire song that was played at Wolves away in 06/07, before we went on to demolish them 6-0 and then started singing it ourselves for the rest of the match? That same song was played before the match last night. Omen?
