Tomorrow PNE play their second consecutive away game when they travel to Derbyshire to take on Chesterfield in their Div 1 fixture at Chesterfields new home the B2net Stadium.
The two clubs sit together in the league table both having gained 1 pt from their opening two league games.
The Spireites as Chesterfield are nicknamed are the 4Th oldest club in the football league, but have never played in the top flight of English football. Their most famous player is of course Gordon Banks of England and world cup fame.
The game itself gives both teams the opportunity to get their first league win under their belt and move up the table.
PNE having lost two points at the Irons by allowing the Irons to level the score inside the last 4 Min's of the game, will be looking to make amends tomorrow and will be looking for all three points. Due to injury's and late new signings PNE have yet to settle and gel as a team, with players having to play out of position to fill the gaps. There were however strong signs of things coming together against the Irons last Saturday, and PNE might consider themselves very unfortunate not to have come away with all three points. Phil Browns decision to play a 4 3 3 formation in the two opening games (plus the Carling cup game) has not realy payed dividends thus far, although things were going quite well against the Irons for a large part of the game. Most fans believe a team formation of 4 4 2 to be the best option but P Brown may yet prove that 4 3 3 is best. We will see.
PNE team selection for this Chesterfield fixture is going to be interesting with PNE having signed two players late last week, but I suspect that neither will be match fit as yet. It could be that the young PNE right back Conor McLaughlin has recovered from injury and if so he will be pushing for a start, but I suspect that McLean will keep his place at right back with youngster Daniel Devine keeping his place in the centre of defence. Whatever Team Phil Brown decides to go with they will be expected to win by all the PNE supporters, PNE do need to get the win and start putting points on the table and start moving up the league table.
I believe that PNE will win and by more than one clear goal, but what do you think is likely to be the outcome of this away fixture ??? what do you think the team will be or should be ???, how do you feel about team formations ??? . Use this thread to let us all know what YOU think.
For those who are interested in such like, Chesterfield FC get's its nickname "The Spireites" due to Chesterfield Parish church Spire being twisted and out of shape. It is the largest church in Derbyshire and is quite famous for it's "crooked spire". Follow the link below for more information about this unique church spire.
