The right player is a subjective discussion. What the manager needs the manager should get then we can hold them accountable whilst I still consider Rodgers a good coach the policy of having someone determine who he should buy was self defeating my view is we have to spend another 200 million to acquire VVD Keita and a quality left back then so be it. They are all young and we would not have to spend much over the subsequent seasons Just make sure they have Barcelona type release clauses to mitigate the big boys sniffing around
Apart from doesn't seem like we are paying £70m. Don't think we'll go above £50 which is maybe £10m more. De Bruyne was a Chelsea reject at £50m. Mata a Chelsea reject at £35m. Lukaku a Chelsea reject at £25m. Schurrle a Chelsea reject at £20m. Czech a Chelsea reject at £10m. Sure the clubs that got them are pretty happy with things.
I don't consider rogers a good coach as i never saw his team play for more than 25 mins. I'd agree mostly. If we are absolutely sure they are right get them. if we are punting or hoping we usually **** things up. But i can't help but feeling we ought to build the new anfield road out of this money and see whats what in the market. I just can't help but feel its all gone mad
there is another 150 mil for the coming next season. it may look crazy buy the money is there. though I look at the figures being spent I'm like **** we could do with that kinda dosh in Africa. With technologies like streaming services like Netflix I can see them usurping Sky and more monies for the clubs.
Premier League, Liverpool transfer news: Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Andy Robertson LIVERPOOL have received a double boost in their pursuit of Naby Keita after club RB Leipzig slapped a £70m (AU$120m) pricetag on his head. Plus another Southampton target emerges as players edge closer to exit door. It’s a Liverpool edition of Rumour Mill! Naby Keita is one of the hottest young prospects in world football. He’s also one of the Bundesliga’s best midfielders. That’s why RB Leipzig won’t let go of him cheaply, setting a $120m asking price. Despite this, Jurgen Klopp – who has personally requested a move for the Guinean – has received two boosts. The Mirror has reported Liverpool are ready to “test the resolve” of Keita’s club, by making a first official offer. While, no fee amount was reported, Liverpool “want to discover if Leipzig and [chief executive Oliver] Mintzlaff’s talk is just bluster and are keen to open talks over a fee.” ESPN, The Times and Corriere dello Sport journalist Gabriele Marcotti has stated that Keita has agreed a deal in principle with Liverpool to move to the Premier League, with a fee the only thing to agree. “Naby Keita is an interesting player – 22 years old with one season in a major European league,” he told ESPN. “What’s being reported in Germany is that Liverpool have an agreement in principle with the player and the player wants to move to Liverpool. It’s whether Leipzig want to sell. “My colleague Rafa Honigstein has said they will sell, but it’s going to cost £70m, which seems extraordinary. As talented as he is, he’s played in a very specific system at Leipzig and really only has the one year of top flight football.” However, despite this, Keita himself has been quoted as saying he would prefer a move to Manchester City. In an interview with German magazine Welt, Keita revealed Liverpool had tried to sign him last summer before he moved to RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg. “Arsenal, Southampton, Manchester City and Liverpool, although I did not talk with the coach,” he said. Keita also added that he has ambitions to play at the highest level, naming Manchester City among the clubs. “I hope, however, that I have the level in two, three years and could play for one of the very big clubs,” Keita added. “This includes Barcelona, but it also includes Real Madrid or Manchester City.” Meanwhile, another Southampton target has emerged – with Liverpool urged to make a play for left back Ryan Bertrand. ESPN football pundit Paul Mariner said Liverpool are on the lookout for a new fullbacks and it would make sense for Bertrand, 27, to make the move. “Liverpool, how long can they keep playing James Milner in the left-back slot?” he said on ESPN. “So, it makes sense for him to go to Liverpool, will Southampton sell? “Probably, they’ve always been a selling club. I think Southampton fans will be sorry to see him go but I think there’s not many around, put it that way. So I think he goes.” The Reds are still interested in Hull’s Andy Robertson, another frequently linked left back. The Liverpool Echo report Robertson is valued at £8m ($13.5m) and could come in once Alberto Moreno’s exit is confirmed. The Liverpool Echo also report Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is not an alternative to Naby Keita. Journalist James Pearce wrote: “Oxlade-Chamberlain isn’t viewed as being the back-up option to Keita. Liverpool have interest in both and getting Keita wouldn’t necessarily mean they don’t pursue Oxlade-Chamberlain. “The situation with Oxlade-Chamberlain is that Liverpool made an enquiry to Arsenal a while back and were told he wasn’t available. Clearly, a lot hinges on what happens over his contract.” Finally, there is interest in Liverpool youngsters Joe Gomez and Sheyi Ojo from two new Premier League clubs. Brighton and Hove Albion have made an approach for Gomez, with the hope of securing him on a one year loan deal. Manager Chris Hughton told The Argus: “We’ve registered our interest but he’s not our player. It will be up to Liverpool. “I’d like to think we are very much in the running.” Newcastle United have also made moves for 20-year-old winger Sheyi Ojo – although Liverpool have “rebuffed a host of loan approaches.”
Liverpool are ready to make a club-record bid for Naby Keïta. (Paul Joyce) Klopp is back next week, and only when a firm offer has been submitted can Liverpool gauge if Leipzig’s stance is genuine. (Paul Joyce)
It's really a case that our summer is in head scratching mode. James Pearce outlined the scenarios yesterday in a q&a. Says Hunter and gallows are still scouting away (read looking at Southampton first team or people we tried to buy 3 years ago) Edwards of all people is doing negotiations (read here's who to blame) And Mike Gordon is the guy with money Klopp is "trusted more" than Rogers is all. Oh oh.... we are ****ed guys. .... Keita is doubtful according to him. Vvd is well we ****ed it up didnt we. And ox is most likely of 3 but unlikely.... We will prob be picking new "targets" once klopp gets in so strategy worked up last season was worthless excerise
Some of the prices quoted are crazy for average players imo surely there is better value for money from lesser leagues who have some fantastic talent. Andriy Yarmolenko is the perfect example could get him for around 25-30 million so just like him there are players out there available.
Seems like it's just opinion rather than based on fact. Even the news from Joyce last night was really news - everyone in the world was expecting us to bid for Keita at some point. Seems like journos are going off very little these days.
The in crowd are still more in than others. Pearce intimated that fsg didnt tell klopp we were not going to bid ever for vvd but it read lime supposition that klopp had to kbow himself it was ****ed up. Klopp imo needs to bang some heads together very quickly
20mil player for 5 months loan period. he's probably worth it in the end but it just goes to show fees have doubled this year. he was prob available for 10mil but Bournemouth went with the loan. should have had agree fee in loan LOL
The fact they called him back they probably refused to sell in the first place but was happy with the loan. Makes absolutely no sense why they called him back mind. Poor from Chelsea.
It badly affected Bournemouth. Dunno if Alonso had an issue or not at the time but clearly they never needed him.
