Emmanuel Adebayor has been appointed tribal chief in his native Togo. Yes, really: https://citifmonline.com/2017/06/23...nuel-adebayor-installed-chief-in-native-togo/
A couple of our former players have turned up at Chelmsford City in advance of the new season. First to sign was Lee Barnard, who seems to have "done the rounds" in recent years. Then followed by Kudos Oyenuga , who looked to be having a decent career in Scotland following his release from us.
Scott Parker has announced his retirement. Wasted a couple of years of his career on Chelsea's bench but overall was a real Mr Dependable and an excellent role model for our youngsters when he was at the Lane.
Top player, top professional and Spurcat's haircut hero. I'd welcome him back to Spurs as a coach, as he already got his badges while he was still with us. Harry Winks spoke about him being a big influence, in the lead up to our FA Cup game against Fulham last season. Parker returned the favour, saying that Winks can reach the top of the game. The Express, ****rag though it is, are suggesting that we're in talks with him. Might be a good opportunity for both parties.
Former Spurs assistant Kevin Bond has joined Birmingham to be reunited with 'Arry for the 5th time in their respective careers. In other news, England lost to Germany in a penalty shoot-out.
In other other other news, Mark Yeates has joined National League side Eastleigh FC, following his release by Notts County.
Following Scott Parker's retirement, The Mail are running that he may be coming to Spurs as a coach. I know 'Forty' Winks speaks very highly of his coaching and it would be a nice fit. Also he's a Spurs fan. Hope it happens
Farewell to 60s Scotty Parker. What a beautiful complement to Modric he was in that 2011-12 season (if only we had him in the team in the season before ) .
Found an article about Jamie Slabber that's worth a read: http://www.planetfootball.com/nostalgia/story-jamie-slabber-one-game-spurs-remarkable-fall/
...and if you thought the Slabber article was a downer, wait until you read this interview with Steven Caulker: https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ntal-illness-addictions-gambling-drinking-qpr
Levy was correct. That aside, the cautionary tale of kids getting paid silly money for doing far too little (you cannot blow that amount on gambling if you are not getting paid tens of thousands per week) .
Maybe it's time to hire a club psychiatrist, even if it's just to refer people to outside help? Livermore, Caulker and Lennon were all at the club at the same time. Is that a coincidence?
