Best of a limited group of managers available and willing to come to Saints. Time will tell, if this was a wise decision. Good that we got someone so soon. His first task is to gel the squad and work out what to do about VVD and Bertrand.
He looks, sounds and walks like a Saints manager....so he has my full support. I hope he hits the ground running, but I also hope fans show patience if he doesn't. To start with I want lots of shots of happy players skipping around in preseason, being joined at intervals by some new buddies whose desire since birth has been to play for Southampton.

Doesn't seem on the surface to be either a step up or down from Puel. That's not surprising, though. There's a level of player and manager that are within reach for a club like ours. The trick is in finding the hidden gems in that pile. Other than League One where we hugely outspent everyone, that's kind of how it's always been and we've done fairly well.

Interview interesting....like the bit about not being bigger than the club. Won't stick to philosophy regardless, but adapts to the players he has.

I have a feeling that Pellegrino is going to be a good appointment for your club.

Well the "in-depth interview" doesn't have any questions at all and what he said would have taken about 2 minutes!
I see Samuels is at it again...reacted strongly to Les Reed's obviously inflammatory statement that Mauricio is our new manager and he suits our style. Why does he burst a blood vessel about us....does he hate Reed or Saints? He finds our lack of success in footballing terms a personal affront.....is he perhaps a closet Saint.
