Liverpool to reject Napoli swap-deal for Faouzi Ghoulam and Alberto Moreno
LIVERPOOL reportedly have no interest in receiving Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam as part of a swap-deal for Alberto Moreno
Southampton are standing firm in their stance towards Virgil van Dijk’s price-tag but appear to be open to another approach from Liverpool for the defender.

Recent reports have been the clearest suggestion that the Reds will launch a fresh approach for the Dutchman despite having previously been forced to apologise and end interest in the player following a complaint from Southampton over an apparent illegal pursuit.

Jurgen Klopp has now been told by the Saints that he will have to meet the full £70million asking price to have any chance of signing the centre-back, according to the Daily Express.
This seems to reiterate the growing belief that Liverpool remain in the hunt for the 25-year-old and that an official offer could soon be made.

Van Dijk appears to have set his heart on a move to Anfield with latest developments suggesting he will tell Chelsea he wants to work with Klopp before they make their supposedly imminent £60million bid.

If £70million is what it will take, then it’s time for the club to pay up and avoid a repeat of the embarrassing outcome of their initial enquiry.

Fans don’t want this to materialise into the long-term saga it has threatened to become and Liverpool are in no position to make mistakes this time.

For now, it seems likely the Reds will turn their attention towards possible deals for RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita and Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

So a bid for £60m plus add-ons to take the deal to £70m for VvD looks like is back on? I'd love to see him come here, it'd mean we mean business even if I (most) do believe that he'll be overpriced. I try to look at it like this; it'd be the sum total of Benteke, Markovic and Moreno......so pretty good business if he's any good <whistle>

Lot's of rumours about the Ox. Not bad but not needed tbh. We need a left sided LB. Even if Klopp wants to switch to 3-5-2 or at least have that option....we still need a Left sided player in playing LWB. Milner is very predicatble.

I now have no idea who we will buy....VvD makes as much sense as anyone else but we seriously need other positions filled!

CB = VvD = £65m
LB = £30m
CM = ? = £30m - Could they be considering the Ox instead of Keita who might not be available.....or to find the extra millions for VvD? <confused>
FW = ? = £50m
Total = £175 plus £35 for Salah = £210m <yikes>

Let's assume that we had the reported £150m budget before selling anyone......this means that we'd need to raise £60m from player sales:

Sahko = £30m (is looking cheap now tbh)
Moreno = £15m (and it's feasible <laugh>)
Markovic = £15m

That's without the possibility of selling other fringe players.......like Sturridge <whistle>

Hope I'm right about the above......could turn into one of our best transfer windows ever!! It could also be very frustrating mind....

I think Keita is the most important, if he can do for us what Kante does for Chelsea then we will leak a lot less goals

He's nothing like Kante - Kante is a one dimensional midfielder who is world class in running around and winning the ball back.

Keita has so much more to his game. Much more rounded footballer.

What piss me off is, we never see these players like Kante and Keita
before they become known and every one is after them. Shall we blame
our scouts?.

Basically yes. I think Klopp will improve this but we seem to be feeding off the middle table; not risking £12m on VvD for example......So we buy players who have proven themselves to a degree.....but we wish to make them very good.

The likes of City and Chelsea buy them when very good already. Mourinho and Utd - looks like they'll just buy them when thye're old :bandit:

I wonder if we ever tried to offer Sakho as part of the deal for VvD and thus lowering the price to about £40m. Makes sense really, means they wouldn't have to go looking for CB after selling a CB and Sakho proved at Palace that he's good enough to be playing in the Prem.
