If the Grenfell tragedy had happened before the election then Labour probably would've won, the government's initial response to it was disgraceful. The next election might not be too far away....
It's political commentators that are saying that there will be another election within a couple of years, it was a hung parliament remember?
Usual BBC still re-running the referendum campaign. I didn't see anything wrong there from Leadsom not anything good from Maitlis. All she did was trot out the same comments that the whole of the remain lot keep trotting out. On the "It's been a year" comment she should be questioning "chief remainer" Cameron on why he instructed the civil service not to draw up plans in case of a leave result. That is the real shocker that there was no contingency plan at all in place. The other one is this whole angle of attacking the "no deal is better than a bad deal" which of course is true. I think we all accept that "a" deal is better than no deal however you cannot go into negotiations stating what you will settle for as a starting point. The EU published their starting point "We want loads of money from the UK and give them no benefits a member gets." The UK published their starting point "We want to give no money to the EU and get everything that members get." We will arrive somewhere in the middle. If we put out a "realistic plan" of where we would like to end up that would become the starting point for the negotiations and we would get less, just like Cameron did. Walk up to a market and let the stall holder that you are not going to walk away without the object you are asking about and bang goes any chance of a discount. Wanting a detailed plan of what we are hoping for is either naivety from individual or is just a blatant attempt to achieve such a bad deal in the hope that they scupper the whole process. About time the BBC started looking forward instead of continually trying to re-run the campaign.
No they aren't. They are only letting the money go to the devolved government. Unless NI parliament comes together again then no money goes anywhere. Or are you are calling all the nurses and doctors in the NHS in NI Terrorists?
So are Scotland and Wales going to get more investment?, how about us in England? The public are going to see this as a shabby deal and a desperate attempt to cling on to power and it will be remembered.
I think some of the money will disappear. DUP are dodgy and nasty as ****. Stop moaning at the BBC and be patriotic for once...
The Scots already get a bumper deal. Wales granted should get some more. NI has been quite low in investment though in comparison to the rest of the UK.
I am very patriotic. Just wish that broadcasters would stop trying to push a ridiculous angle trying to make out that you start negotiations by declaring all the aspects you will settle for. No plan is needed. We start wanting everything for nothing, just as their plan (that they have published) is they want to give nothing but get as much money as possible for that nothing. Same with the EU citizens bit. I wish she had just declared that EU citizens should stay however she didn't. And all the while she is called out for "treating people like bargaining chips" while the EU that refuse to agree to do this part first are not called out for doing exactly the same.
You didn't get my dig at Leadsom. She got questioned, so called out the BBC for not being Patriotic. You not agreeing with the BBC isn't very patriotic by her standards... Also we are the ones wanting to leave.
Sorry Imps it's just a bribe. Understanderble, but not excusable. My wife will look forward to her 1% payrise (again!) this year knowing that there is, of course, just no money available in the system. Unless you f*ck up a vanity election of course
Leadsom is pointing the finger at the BBC not being patriotic because they are not bothered about getting a good deal. Their aim is to keep on scuppering any chance of doing so....hence the BBC cares more about its own soundbites than the good of the nation and thus the BBC is not patriotic. Leadsom is right. I have no idea where you get that I am not patriotic by "not agreeing with the BBC." I have no idea about how you see her being called out. She used "you" meaning the BBC. Maitlis jumped on "you" meaning personally pointed at her. Made a big thing about it. I have no idea why this particular clip was posted because it is just a nothing clip. You have quite rightly put that she called out the BBC for not being patriotic. You seem to have missed that Maitlis decided to take it personally and did not take it as meaning the BBC. The BBC sees nothing good about the UK and there is never anything but doom and gloom. If it wasn't Brexit it would be something else that they would downplay Britain on. About time the BBC celebrated the positives in Britain instead of constantly saying how **** Britain is.
