Over half a million gambling addicts in the UK apparently.

I'd say that's conserative personally.

A lot of people tend to have a vice of some sort in their lives.

For some it's drink and/or drugs. Others it's gambling or a whole variety of other things.

They're all addictions all the same, whether mental or physical.

I've seen some bad gambling addictions in friends over the years at both ends of the scale.

One who would draw his fortnighly giro out n spunk it in a roulette machine within half hour. Another who used to place 2/3k on a single dog... and use his credit card to withdraw cash at 30% a go to fund gambling <yikes>

I'm down in Ascot for a great weekend mate. I'm not losing anything I can't afford.

I'm not chasing anything

Fair enough fella...

You sound a bit like me then, gamble occasionally for the fun side of it rather than the winning <ok>

We used to like a bet at uni. We'd go to the bookies and lose a few quid and occasionally go to the races and lose a few quid more. There was one lad who started to like it a bit too much. After we left uni he got a job as a financial advisor, £12k a year starting salary. He called me one day to say he'd had a tip from a guy who knew Templegate (The Sun's tipster). He put £3k on it. Lost. He's sorted now fortunately!

We do Ascot every year for the weekend mate.

Newmarket in August. This year we're going when Jesse Glyn is on stage after the races. That'll be a good night.

And Peterborough dogs once a year.

I'm not a gambler by any means but when we all go to a meeting, we do it properly!!!

Other than that I just bet on the golf majors.

Sat at work having a McDonald's Strawberry milkshake mentally prepping to have a pre rolled Biff afterwards when I go for a walk...will sit on the banking facing a field full of Rapeseed, very scenic.

living the dream getting paid to do what I love.

I've got Baseball all weekend , probably 6 games I'll play . It's all fun and games till you wake up Monday morning ....unable to move ....But , BRING IT ON !

By baseball don't you just mean rounders really?

Or ****ty yank sport?

Either works

Yeah definitely sound like me mate. Not a gambler by any means but do enjoy the odd flutter, mainly football as like watching goals go in on a Saturday with added interest.

Same as on a big night if I end up at a casino won't mind putting a nifty or so aside for blackjack. Usually watch the table for a bit first counting to improve chances too ;)

Never spend more than my pre set limit.

Never play FOBT machines though as they're set up to beat you, much prefer a live event. Never do dogs/horses these days either as know **** all about it. Definitely would if I actually went to the races though as an experience.

Would like to go Vegas one day with a largeish amount set aside just for gambling.

As you know @brb gave @Stan this job a while ago. Unfortunately his swipe card for the executive bogs got stuck in the male mail.

Watching Bottom on Gold even though I've got them all on DVD and watched them all a billion times.

The episode where they have to do a shift in the corner shop.

Listening to a Radio 5 podcast interview between Colin Murray hosting and Ian Wright.

Brilliant interview, that goal for Palace in the Cup final, what a memory, top guy, legend.
