Good player whose confidence has been restored after disappointing at Chelsea.

But from an outsider's perspective, this looked like the last position you needed to strengthen. Your array of AM's is frighteningly good. Surely CB, LB, DM and ST should be prioritised?

Well we tried CB and ****ed it up
The theory on the St is that with all these AM's we can play one of them there in a crisis. Also we still have Sturridge, Origi, Ings and Firmino who virtually plays as a CF. Although I do agree we need a proper striker as these are either always injured or not prolific enough.

I'm sure I'm not the only one on here that's been screaming for us to sign a LB and DM since Christmas.

Does seem that our 'committee' is only able to concentrate on one transfer at once, so maybe we'll get to the other positions later in the summer (hopefully not too late)

thats reasonable until you look at how awful and predictable we are minus mane.

we were seoncd and better than you lot with mane in December. take him out.. draws, losses, no goals.. gone for season.

its not that we were much good in the areas you have pointed out.. not at all but its purely a one man team is a one man team.

Have you seen us play without Mane? <laugh>

Salah on the other wing will be devastating. We'll sign others too!

    No.
We need to sell all our reserves to our rivals at £10m each and then sign all -2 potential players for a pittance.

Again, only an outsider's opinion here, but surely Mane's absence doesn't suddenly make the likes of Coutinho, Firmino and Lalalalalalana useless at attacking and creating goals?

What Mane does for you is essentially what Bale did for us in his final season...acts as a large plaster covering up some appalling deficiencies at the back. When he's on the team sheet, the opposition fear his blistering pace and stamina and set up much more conservatively, committing less men forward and not pressing quite so high...QED your (begging your pardon) ****e defence isn't really put to the test. Take Mane out, lose that pace and attacking aggression, suddenly the opponent is more confident about venturing beyond the halfway line, and your backline is exposed for the (begging your pardon) tragicomedy it can be.

Signing Salah gives you a second plaster. But again, if both of them pick up an injury/go off to the ACON, those flaws will still be there, turning certain wins into draws.

I agree with a lot of that tbf.

But we're not just going to sign Salah this window. I fully expect a CM (Naby Ketia hopefully) and a CB and a LB to come in.

We'll see but there's plenty of work going on. We have money to spend and can offer CL football, so hopefully some big targets will arrive.....hopefully!

Oh for sure, you're not done spending. But if the Salah deal goes through, aren't you looking at an outlay of close to £150m to fill his plus a new CB,LB,ST and DM? I can see you "managing" without the last two but let's be honest, Can/Lucas and Sturridge/Origi/Ings aren't title-winning quality. If the VVD deal had gone through, your spending would already be close to £100m.

Given your typical net spend since Fenway took over, can you see multiple outgoings to cover the bill? Or is Henry putting unprecedented trust in his manager?

RB Leipzig's Champions League Nightmare Could Be Great News For Liverpool
UEFA are expected to make a decision at some point in the next few weeks regarding the Champions League status of German club RB Leipzig after a rather unusual issue reared its head at the end of last season.

After finishing 2nd in the Bundesliga, in their first ever season in the top-flight of German football (and eight year of existence), the club were looking forward to continuing their upward trajectory, much to the disdain of every football fan in the country. By competing in the Champions League via their automatic place, they would be rubbing shoulders with Europe's elite, but the progress of their sister-club may put an end to that idea, at least for next season.

For those unaware, the RB in RB Leipzig stands for RasenBallsport Leipzig, which literally means Lawn Ball Sport Leipzig, a name that was made up so that it could be abbreviated to RB and thus associated to Red Bull as Germany prohibits football teams from being named after sponsors.

Over in Austria there is no such rule, and Red Bull Salzburg were crowned champions of the Austrian Bundesliga. Great for the company, right? Wrong. That title saw Salzburg earn a place in the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League, and there's the problem.

UEFA prohibits clubs that are closely linked from competing in the same competition, and as both clubs are both owned by Red Bull, only one can stay. As the Austian side finished 1st in their league, they would rank higher and would maintain their status in the competition, which means Leipzig have to go, as explained by Sky Sports.
UEFA rules prohibit clubs with strong links to one another from playing in their competitions in the same season.

The UEFA administration, headed by UEFA general secretary Theodore Theodoridis, will make a final decision next month on whether the two clubs can play in next season's Champions League.

If they rule only one Red Bull club can play, Salzburg will get the nod because they finished higher in their league.

No Champions League football presents a big problem for RB Leipzig. Aside from being a nightmare as the club's biggest achievement from last season would essentially be taken away, it also weakens their position in terms of holding onto players.

With such an eye-catching season in the Bundesliga, clubs from all over Europe will be sniffing around their young talent who proved pivotal in the success. Emil Forsberg is one player who stood out, and is reportedly on his way to AC Milan, but another huge piece of the puzzle was all-action midfielder Naby Keita.

The Guinea midfielder was outstanding last season and ran the show from midfield on numerous occasions. Very few players got the best of him, as his athleticism, positioning, and nose for a goal made him a nightmare to deal with.

Liverpool have been linked to him for months now, as it's clear Jurgen Klopp identified him as someone who could made a massive difference in a position that Liverpool struggled in last season.

RB Leipzig were hoping to hold on to Keita, but without Champions League football, and crucially Liverpool's ability to offer that, means that if the German club are kicked out of the Champions League, it opens the door for what would be a seriously impressive signing.

Of course, as with Mohamed Salah, it's yet another player who would likely be unavailable when the African Cup of Nations rolls around, but it's hard to see him being anything other than a success in Jurgen Klopp's side.

The decision, when it arrives, could play a big role in Liverpool's pursuit of the player, as it makes their hand far, far stronger in the negotiations.

There is a possibility that Liverpool sign Keita even if Leipzig play Champions League football next season, but they'll be hoping for a firm 'no' from UEFA next month.

I'm probably being slightly optimistic saying we'll get all the signings we need.

Last summer we didn't actually spend a penny after sales, so this summer with CL next season I think Henry et al. are happy to spend what Klopp needs (within reason). We're clearly in for a CB and a LB, that's quite clear from all the smoke around.

I can see us breaking our transfer record again this window. Maybe twice.

Perosnally I really want Naby Keita to partner Coutinho in midfield, and I'd be happy to break the bank for that to happen. It's clear from what Klopp has said and how we played in the last couple of games that Coutinho will play a deeper role. He even plays there for Brazil now, it suits him perfectly. He just needs a strong partner, I'm not sure Can/Hendo/Lucas fit that bill.

I would like to think that Klopp is heavily backed and trusted in this window, but we're Liverpool so you never know.

On the striker point. I'd love an out an out striker, maybe Lacazette or Abameyang (sp?) but I think he'll leave it and play Firmino as a false 9. Then mix it up with Sturridge if needed. Last season goal scoring on the whole wasn't our problem and Klopp knows we have goals in the team, especially adding Salah to the equation.

Our next signing will be a defensive one, no doubt.

It has been quoted we have 200mil to spend this window, who knows the exact amount but we're certainly in for what we need.

It's just a waiting game with fingers crossed!!

    Liverpool suffer Naby Keita setback?
That’s the feeling here, given that UEFA have given his club, RB Leipzig, the all clear to play in the Champions League next season.

RB Leipzig finished runner-up to Bayern Munich last year but their place in the Champions League was in doubt because of Red Bull’s ownership of Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg.

It had been feared that UEFA regulations concerning dual ownership of clubs would force Leipzig out of the competition, with Salzburg taking priority as a league champion.

However Bild in Germany today reports that UEFA has deemed it acceptable for both clubs to enter the Champions league.
