What do you do for work ? Can you be honest this time ?

You wouldn't believe me, Pix. Your fragile ego simply couldn't handle the truth, mate.

That's how you come across to me, on this site. I'm being honest, sorry.

I can handle the truth mate, tell us what you actually do for a living, truthfully.

I dare you.

No, Tobias.

Pix got suicidal at the idea of me being a property magnate with a legal background.

Strange thing is, that he must suspect that I do something fairly special, but his ego will refuse to accept any answer other than window-cleaner, dustman, or bus driver (even though he knows that none of those would be true).

It's a proper dilemma for him, and one which I have used to **** with his mind for several years, mate.

I doubt it keeps him awake at night like...

You've made **** up about what you do, which might make a cynical person think that what you actually do isn't very interesting nor glamorous.

What most people find glamorous isn't, at all, for those perceived to be leading a glamorous life.

Take fame, for example. I can absolutely assure you that, most of the time, fame is not at all glamorous.

No mate, you're obviously not ready to share the actual truth.

Your choice fella.

You (and especially Pixie) need to believe that, Tobias.

I flip burgers.

That ought to satisfy you, but the better part of you refuses to accept it, because you know (deep inside yourself) that I do not flip burger.

And yet, you find it too fantastical to believe that I develop property.

So, we are looking for a job that lies somewhere between flipping burgers and developing property, before you will believe me...

Help me out, here.

The choice of job... is it to be (picking a point roughly midway in prestige between the two extremes) nearer to flipping burgers or developing property?

Is it to be manual labour or office-based?

Does it require me to have had a University education or not?

Would it be classed as skilled?

Is it highly-paid or low-paid?

Give me some idea of what it is that you are expecting me to tell you, Tobias, and I will try to come up with something to match your wishes.

I've never said nor intimated that you flipped burgers mate.

I know you don't develop property as Stan and I tied you in knots on a thread dedicated to it, and then you eventually capitulated and admitted you were lying.

You claim to have a Cambridge degree, so you can't be a numptie and therefore must have a decent job imo, whether you choose to share what your actual profession is, is down to you pal.

There are mitigating circumstances though Tobes, he does wear size 22 boots and wears checked trousers so assuming he's not Rupert the bear the Cnut has to be Ronald McDonald.

But, I already have, and you refuse to believe it, Tobias.

Pixie's ego will never accept the truth.

I think it's best for all of us, and the peace and stability of this board, if you and I arrive at a suitably crafted career choice for me, one that Pixie will be happy with.

So, if you would please answer my earlier questionnaire, I will try to come up with some "plausible" suggestions.

I believe that you flip burgers. I respect anyone who works, and it's much more believable.

No, you do not believe that I flip burgers, Bluey. You are on the wum, and doing very badly, I must say.

This isn't about anyone other than Pixie. It's about what Pixie believes.

Pixie does not believe that I flip burgers for a living, despite the fact that he would love that to be true, because it would bolster his fragile ego.

I think the term you're looking for is: laughing at your bullshit claims when they come unstuck.
