I'd rather see them go out and develop in league 1 or 2 for a season and then go back out the following season on loan to the championship. For me, those divisions are where we should be sending our players.
Off subject a bit, How the **** is Jake Livermore an England International. Is that the best they have, was average at Spurs, Average at Hull and Average at WBA. I am staggered . The rest of their side looks good, but surely they must have better than him. I thought he looked awful against us and about 2 stone over weight, mind you that is probably muscle bound.
Sorry to go off topic again guys, But, I see that Brendan is keeping up with the multi millionaire football people, punching way above their weight. I wonder what attracted her to him. please log in to view this image
The problem i was referring to is the way we dont get the impression we are a premiership team with aspirations.....Our first couple of seasons when we did not have much money we had to look at what is left after other teams have had their fill of the best players but 7 seasons in and i dont see any change and are concentrating more in the bargain basement looking for cheap rather than quality. We half heartily announce players we are targeting with other teams and we are quickly out bid and lose interest instead of fighting to get our man......I dont want us saying we are looking at Non league players as our main targets when we know we need 4 or 5 big quality players first and foremost......Nothing has changed in our 7th season that we were doing in our first season...
I cant dsagree with this either, also add to that the yanks were brought in to add investment, money worth we are in the top 25 sides, we are still be outspent by championship sides.
Spending money simply because you have it to spend is not the way to go. Spending it wisely is a far better option. If Championship sides spend more, then let them. Spending more doesn't actually guarantee anything. I don't see much in the way of serious spending taking place during the build up to next season, especially when you consider that the current squad amassed 29 points in half a season. The powers that be may well see that as justification to keep their money for a later date.
Of course spending it wisely is a better option. I have never said it isn't, what we have done in recent years is not spent massive and when we have spent still not spent it wisely, Probably January has been our only real successful window in the last couple of seasons, It is early days yet and I hope we are sensible, but we have to start thinking like a PL club, I still believe that HJ thinks he can keep unearthing cheap stars and some will happen and work. Mawson springs to mind. But it will eventually bite you on the back side. Just my opinion.
Lib funny we are talking about spending wisely and I came across this from the beginning of last season. How wrong was that article. http://www.umaxit.com/index.php/art...rue-the-day-they-sold-borja-baston-to-Swansea Here is a list of all PL released players, all free agents. Anything there people think could do a job. http://www.wba.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=494347
"thinking like a PL club". The PL is made up of 20 teams, at least 6/7, probably more, of whom we will NEVER be able to compete with. So, what's the point of just throwing money around like drunken sailors in the hope that purchases will come good ? Borja, at £15,000,000.00, being a classic example. I hope the Club don't get sucked into this spend, spend mentality. It will prove fatal. Better we "think" of who we are, where we came from, what we can reasonably expect, and leave the others to do what they want to do.
