The wife just went to Vietnam and found it wonderful, beautiful scenery, great food and CHEAP. Hoi an, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. Weather was too hot though, October should be perfect. She visited Cambodia last year, said it was spectacular. Enjoy. She's taking me to both next year

Went to Cuba and Mexico in March for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Cuba was fascinating and starting to change. Gentrification in Old Havana is underway but it's still very poor and completely lacking in consumerism. The food is not good, we were wArned and therefore not surprised. Lived on Mojitos. Mexico City was interesting and we finished the trip in Playa del Carmen with a day in Chichen Itza. Loved it

Did a cruise around the Iberian Peninsula a few weeks ago, taking in Malaga, Cadiz & Lisbon along the way. Very impressed with the job they've done on the quay side in Malaga it's gone from a run down disused space to a lovely space with bars & restaurants and a new Pompidou center.

Very taken with Cadiz, nice place to stroll around and not touristy, back to the real Spain.....

Lisbon is my latest must stay place, could easily live there, great food, lovely climate, easy access through cheap public transport, plus they have a footie team that plays in hoops or horizontal strips as the case may be......

As Mrs TR doesn't fly we hope to get away a couple of more times this year and cruising from Southampton is the easiest way......

I'm afraid (not) that I am one of the one's Jezza is after. Mykonos last month, France with extended family in July and then Greece in September. I am obviously doing much better than he and his mates want me to.

I went to Valencia in mid-May which was lovely. A perfect blend of sight seeing opportunity and a chance to unwind during the 3 night stay.

Booked a 1 week's stay in the Algarve, Portugal in July.

Potentially looking at another City break in October for a long weekend, any suggestions would be very welcome!

Try Barcelona. Great city by the sea. Lots to do and a visit to the Camp Nou is a must. Get some Estrella Damm down your Gregory too!!

about two months ago we were planning - sorry other half wanted to go to Cuba but changed her mind and has decided Gambia at the end of the year. Hopefully by then the pair of us will have new jobs and it giving us plenty of time to potentially fit in some weekend trips away as well.
Maybe Cuba will be the place for next year as I would like to go before it gets to influenced by America

Just back from a couple of weeks in Mallorca (thanks for tips on the flight with a 1 year old, nothing worked, cried for 90 minutes (bit like me watching us this year) and then fell asleep for the last half an hour both ways. We also have a 5 year old and await the fine from the school for taking him out for a week. Anyone else had to deal with that?

Got a week in Dorset during the school holidays, mate's 40th in Dublin later in the year. Also, think we've booked up a few day-trips including (I hope) taking my wife up the chocolate factory!!

Just back from Alicante - the Old Town part - very Spanish, few Brits, it's a lovely city with a very relaxed atmosphere, and lovely beaches. If tourist tat takes your fancy, bus to Benidorm takes about 30.minutes, but it's never interested us in going...and if golf is your thing, there's plenty of that too, but I prefer the city with loads of fantastic restaurants and bars. A small knowledge of Spanish language does help, although most people can speak a smattering of English.

Thinking of heading to Croatia in the summer, have heard lots of good things but not got round to booking anything yet - anybody been?

I'm told Theresa May is going on a walking tour of purgatory.
I've been to Dubrovnik for a few days on a work thing. It's fantastic. The Croatian coast is beautiful.

Be very careful what you eat out in Gambia

I went for a week and then spent a week in the London Hospital for Tropical Diseases with typhoid. Not pleasant, and yes I did get all the necessary jabs / pills!

We're back off to Ireland later this month, doing the NW of the RoI and then a few days in NI

If the weather is as kind as last year I'll be very happy - particularly for the ferry crossings!!

I realize that it might sound a bit boring, but I'm spending my 30th consecutive summer vacation in August on the Baie de Chaleurs (Bay of Warmth) at a place called Anse-Bleue (Blue Cove).

This year we're renting a modernized old house with plenty of space for visiting family members and access to a private beach behind the property. Great swimming, seafood, blueberries and festivals, plus in-laws only 10 mins away for visits. Corn fields (for animal feed) surround the house and make an interesting rustling sound when the wind blows (as long as the Children of the Corn don't emerge).

Only a 4 hour drive from home - quite honestly when our 5 daughters were younger (5 of them under 10 at one point) this was as far as I wanted to drive in the summer. Very good memories with lots of great video footage through the years taken using a Sony camcorder, that I really should convert to another media before the tapes break down.

Now we did used to do March break trips with the kids to Quebec City, Montreal and Ottawa - always extremely expensive for a family of seven.
