If it were Just Liverpool and southampton involved that might even work but its not

Its Southampton pretending they are saints (pun intended) but playing the game just as much as anyone else. Its 3/4 other clubs sniffing round, its agent, its player (who signed a contract as saints fans rightly state) and LFc... all parties are out for themselves so the club following the above process will just get done over

what really happens is

Club bids OR media or agent makes up a bid
Other club tells all other parties what bid is to drum up interest.
other club or interested parties inform media if not done already
Other club don't get back to Club bidding
Players starts dropping hints
First club has no idea what will get player until players agent starts asking for cahs to grease the wheels
and so forth and so on

This is a dirty business.

what the saints fans don't seem to realise is their club just blew it cos no player will sign for them without realising that they can get trapped pretty fast here.... Its like spurs fans not realising daniel levy runs a tight ship but the types of players they can lay their hands on are getting limited as he's proven to hard to work with for agents etc

I would predict there are agents out there right now giving the steer away from southampton for their talents, be it managers players etc cos they can place them and move them easier elsewhere.

You can ALWAYs get a player though... its just you get a lesser player who doesn't see the blockage as an issue.

All probably correct but in the case of VVD if we had just put a bid in and done this in the correct manner he would have chosen us. Over time we'd get some and we'd lose some but regardless we should be going about our business in the right way.

red my point on that to le tiss.

you are right they can buy any amount of lower league players they want as they won't be concerned about getting trapped as a prem club.

Go try buy a player with ambitions or should i say a player with an agent who has ambition.

Ah but how did we know he would join us.

Our strategy APPEARS to have been get him on our side and knowing he is coming and then leave him til july and try get 2 or even 3 others in at reasonable fees like salah for 28 mil or whatever.... next thing the whole van dijk stuff blows up... oh roma want 40mil now... ok... ****... the entire thing has exploded

Theres no point not knowing if he is willing to join us then going **** i need a cb in august is there?

Every club in europe talks to agents... southampton talk to agents.... the very thought that klopp and van dijk met in blackpool of all places is so silly its hilarious.

the right way to do business and the ethical way are two different things sadly. you ar saying do it ethically. I am saying we'd get eaten alive out there.... I'm not saying do what LFC have done cos clearly it was amateur hour.

That's not how they work though they don't have any huge ambitions other than building a team from their academy and players that they can buy within their business model which is scouting players from abroad and getting quality at a low price that they can eventually sell on at a profit if the player progressess beyond the club. On occasion they may pay a higher amount if a player they want becomes available but even those players are not going to be worldies who want massive wages.

They are a very well run club, they may have sold to us if we had gone about it it in the correct manner.

We don't know but all this PR nonsense about being scared we may get a bid accepted and then the player turn us down is daft, if a player doesn't want to come then fine move on. Is it really that embarrassing?
There's no excuse for all these dodgy dealings.

We wouldn't get eaten alive if we started doing things the right way, it may force other teams to follow suit. Wouldn't it be nice if we all just stopped ****ing about and just did business the correct way?

It really is nonsense. Quite unlike you.

Player turns down massive salary increase because club say that they won't let him break his contract on a whim. Looks for club that will pay him the same and agree that the contract can be used as bog roll when it suits the player.

You have to remember its not pr for us its about player egos

these guys think they are god's gift and if they see one club saying really want you and then here comes lfc .. well we tried to get these 2 lads but they said stuff you so you are third best but come on its great?

who would you take more seriously?

HOW could one club "doing things right" stop the entire football world form top to bottom from ploughing on exactly as they do.

I can absolutely assure anyone that while southampton were complaining they were also talking to manager's agents round europe about their soon to be vacant position and their recruitment team is talking to players directly.

As are every other top 6 clubs recruitment teams. the formal bid is the very last thing thats done these days
