It’s another new boy at the Academy.

This time it’s Finnish defender Patrik Raitanen, who is about to turn 16 and signs from FC Jazz.

Liverpool agreed the deal last year, but he could only sign now.

In fact, here’s what Raitanen had to say 12 months ago.
A bit of news now on Mohamed Salah, a player Liverpool may or may not be interested in.

Reports by TeleRadioStereo (they do exist, we checked) have claimed Monchi, the sporting director of Roma, has said they aren’t selling Salah for £30m, the amount that the story suggests the Reds have bid.

Liverpool have been told to up it to £40m.

If they’re interested, that is. Which they might not be.
That’s what Sky Bet are saying.

The bookmaker is suggesting that with Atletico Madrid now prevented from registering any new signings this year, Vardy may be going elsewhere.

And they’ve named Liverpool as his most likely destination at odds of 6/1.

Mind you, they’ve got him at 1/6 to stay at Leicester City this summer...

Surely it needs to be a combination of screen and eye. Moneyball might bring up names you hadn't considered but is only as good as the
information put in to it. I'd expect any player being considered to be scouted extensively.

that'd be nice if we didn't know that edwards is ALL screen and no eye at all.

We all i think expect people to take 10s of millions of investment very seriously but frankly... MADDENINGLY it seems we will take 3 years to decide on a 50mil expansion of the anfield road with masses of extensive research but then say oh well.. heres 150 mil michael whats your spreadsheet say?

If you mean would they come to chelsea, i think we can get 1 or 2 targets. If you mean by can we go out and buy who we want with unlimited money, i think Roman has put a stop to that and if either City, United, Real go bidding, they would outbid and outpay us

until you sell some of your cattle.. those 38 players on loan. just hock and few and buy what you like... and you know it :)

you ever go to tescos and buy off the bargain shelf.. you might spend 20mins digging but find that one gem thats a total bargain.... and the end up with food poisoning as a result.

That's the LFC model.
True. But it is a business after all not the plaything of obscenely wealthy individuals. FSG have limits on their spending. Hopefully they can spend wisely with Klopp's input.

Spending wisely is one thing.

spending on the basis of a cobbled up spreadsheet form the comolli days that has had zero real hits and ignoring the eyes of the experts is not wise

In the end this will be proven out time and again until he is gotten rid of.

especially when we don't even give ourselves a chance to compete as anyone we seem to actually have a competition for we lose on.

TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal updates plus latest from across Europe.

Thursday 1 June

18:55: Liverpool are "very close" to signing Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, according to pundit Micky Quinn.

Manchester City are said to be keen on offering over £50million for the Dutch defender's services but Quinn thinks Jurgen Klopp's side are in pole position for his signature.

"I said to Danny (Kelly, talkSPORT presenter) yesterday Liverpool are very close to signing him," Quinn said on talkSPORT.

"Now, it could be like buying a house, you could get gazumped in the market, I don't know.

"Liverpool are very close and you have a look at all the bookmakers at the moment, he's as short as 1/2, 2/5 to sign for Liverpool."

If this is the case, then our management need to sort themselves out. I'm not saying offering stupid wages but don't keep agreeing deals and then trying to renegotiate at the last minute.

Its not first time we have heard of some supposed deal done thats then gone into the window and something shady has happened.

Who was it last summer that claimed similar?

Well, if true, then mito will be proved right....we really will be being run by a bunch of muppets.

Id hate that to happen.

But it looks like we had agreed 180k matching city and have turned round and said oh no its 130k with 50k in if you play stuff...

Now.. if we were his only option itd still be asshole move but as he has his pick of top 4.... its lunacy... and i mean lunacy.
