I've seen it mate, I was visiting a friend who lived in Sharjah just outside of Dubai, I think it was around 2006 Ramadan was in October time. Manual labourers working throwing buildings up left, right and centre. Every now and then an ambulance would arrive and scrape a Somalian up of the pavement that had fallen 12 floors to his dehydrated death.

We took a boat up the creek in Dubai too, the 'captain' looked like a raisin, I swear at one point I thought he had died on us.

I think they scrape up Somali's from the pavement all year round tbf though mate.

Some poor ****er got buried neck deep and stoned to death in Somalia yesterday. He only cheated on his 2 wives ffs <doh>
 
I wonder how many people during Ramadan have a sneaky glass of water? 75% I reckon.

The could have just stuck a cap in him like.

Burying him to the neck and then lobbing rocks at his noggin isn't very sporting.

You'd have to. I could do the sunrise to sunset fasting thing, not a real problem, but the lack of water would be a complete no,no.

Without wanting to ridicule a religious belief, no higher being, or Imam should advocate the suspension of drinking water for any period of time, especially when a large section of that demographic live in unbearably hot conditions.

The food thing is easy, I have done intermittent fasting before for long periods, way longer than Ramadan, with 8 hour windows closing to 5 hour windows, but I'd have to have water, to keep my brain working through the day.

Your just not allowed....as far as I can see those without don't have a tap on call.

That's life for some...grab a bucket, get walking on a 10 mile round trip.

That's obviously life for some, but as the most fundamental element for human survival, it just seems odd that it's not allowed.

I'm not sure what the example you suggest has to do with it, most settlements are started within close proximity of fresh water, it's how mankind has evolved, some communities seem to have neglected the most basic principles for whatever reason.

You have 2 options

Don't go to work or don't Fast. Many Muslims who are self employed take the Month off. I've taken the next 4 Friday Evenings off work. Sometimes we just got to pull our fingers out instead of thinking everything doesn't fit so we can't do it. I was always told by my Father...you've got 12 months in a year, if you can't give one up for your Lord, you don't quite get it and don't bother trying to get it.

He was right.

I admire the dedication mate. As a young Catholic kid I used to struggle giving up Curly Wurlys for lent. You boys put us to shame lol.

The fact that you need to embrace a struggle now and again as a humbling experience. It is a fundamental element for survival...however we can drink at the end of the day. If it was a case of you might die, you are not obliged to Fast.
