The Terriers reportedly have the fifth-lowest budget in the second tier but spent all but eight days of the season in the top six.

Listened to Wagner's interview on the pitch, what a class act. If he brings in a few decent players they could surprise a few, the man has real tactical nous...

They're hugely reliant on loan players. It would be a remarkable job to keep most of that group together and add enough to stay up. It's a much tougher league next year than this IMO (and an easier Championship to get out of, not that we will unless relegated).

This bloke is going places, regardless of how Huddersfield do next season.

Maybe but if they can get Ward for another year and save the cash that would make more sense.

Given we are apparently skint I'd be inclined to cash in on him. Shame as he lives in East Bracknell.

Yes, perhaps we need to adopt a Moneyball transfer policy tactics, as Saints have employed so well over the years.

Too bad that we have inherited so many unsellable duds over the years, like Caulker, I guess the last of our pricey deadwood.

So sell Smithies for a good price and let Ingram step up to the plate - I'm sure he would be more than capable next season in the Championship.

I suppose you have to allow them that.
In fairness, Olly was a Sky Pundit then and paid to give opinions albeit ill judged ones.
Let's see how they are singing 10 games in though I'm not making any predictions - but I'm not putting a bet on them winning the league either!

But he thought we would do better without him than we did with him.

It's a tough division next season for sure and they'd have to spend a fortune just to replace their loanees but with Wagner I'd still back them to be competitive. I'd be surprised if they got under 30 points.

That's what I was thinking. The main bulk of their squad and best players are loanees. Goalkeeper Danny Ward is from Liverpool, Aaron Mooy is Man City, Ellias Kachunga is from FC Ingolstadt in Germany and Kasey Palmer and Izzy Brown both Chelsea. If they can't sign or retain them players as well as getting new additions in is a huge task whoever the manager is. Still I wished we had Wagner rather than the lunatic who's our present incumbent.

They have the prospect of £100m for next season to convert some of those loans to purchases and add a few more if Wagner thinks he can build a team in two months. The old gamble - splash the cash to stay up or bank it? Got to be a safer bet to spend a bit now, especially with the enormous parachute payments, as long as you get the balance right. Unlike us, of course.

I think Wagner is a very astute manager similar to Eddie Howe at Bournemouth. He knows how he wants to play and gets good hard working professionals in and motivates them to do it. I'm pretty sure he has already earmarked who he wants to get in to give them the best chance of staying up. The three defensive Germans ( Hefele from Dynamo Dresden ( Remember them ? ) Chris Löwe from Kaiserslautern and Christopher Schindler from 1860 Munich ) he bought was a masterstroke and provided a good backbone to the side along with Tommy Smith the English born right back.
