What is better finishing 2,3 or 4th and have no silverware or finish 6th and win the Europa tin pot and be in the CL?

Honestly, I'd rather finish 6th and have the Europa win than 4th (or 2nd, 3rd) and no silverware. No question.

That said considering how weak our squad is at the moment (especially compared to rest of top 6), I think we did remarkably well.

I'm happy with the progress my team made.

Obviously, Chelsea had the best outcome of everyone. Only thing that trumps a premier league title is a Champions League title. No English team got that. After Champions League and Premier League, Europa next biggest prize.

In terms of what matters for all large clubs, **** all. It's all about the riches of the champions league.
Utd, under Maureen chose one way of getting there by giving up on the league weeks ago, the others chose the league as there best chance.
Do you really think that Maureen will cherish the Europey pot?

For the fans, a pot at the end of the season is great.

More than Klopp will cherish finishing 4th once.

Yep, Maureen was basically left with the Europa as his entry ticket to the CL. His side lacked the consistency to achieve it by league position. Mourinho realised that he wasn't going to make it, so he bet the farm on winning the Europa.

It paid off and he's a hero to Utd fans right now. But it was a huge gamble that could easily have blown up in his face.

In years to come when club honours are listed, qualifying for the Champions League won't be on there whereas trophies will so i'm with Jose on this one.

That depends on your point of view, Kustard. The league table, the mark of consistency over a season, says otherwise.
Quite. In the league everyone plays everyone twice and is therefore a more accurate gauge, even though injuries, suspensions and team selections mean you rarely really play against the same team even though your're playing against the same club.

So UTD are still better than the Spuds then <ok>
Not quite sure thats what I meant.
Uniteds season was more successful, doesn't mean they are better.
When Birmingham won the league cup a few years back, didn't mean they were better than the 2nd, 3rd or 4th placed PL teams.

I thought Arsenal were best because they play the 'best' football, right? Or is it City, what with their 'best' squad and best manager?

Anyway, we can now look on the season as job done. As has been pointed out, it could have backfired but it didn't so all good for now. The record books will show two trophies and there won't be an asterisk with the caveat 'but you were **** in the league' alongside it.

Champions league next season and my money is that United and Chelsea will get a lot further in it than the other three premier league clubs.
