I despair with City fans. In a poll on whether we should re-sign Snodgrass, 58% say we should. So, get rid of Jacob then, fast, able to use both feet, young, for one footed, slow ex player. Who I have never been a great fan of by the way.
I liked him when he was here, a player who I always thought gave 100% and showed passion, but I wouldn't want him back now. I'd rather The Murphy's twins play instead, think it's about time we give the youngsters a chance.
Plus with the season the twins had, it would be stupid not to start them next season.
That's SOOO typical of many City fans - probably the same ones who voted for PL to return as our HC.
Excuse me folks - 'wake up and smell the coffee' - we have AP and JM and the Murphy twins who are all STREETS ahead of Snoddy they are faster and actually PASS the ball to a colleague.
IMO, if we went down that route, we could rival 1p5wich for the number of consecutive years in the Championship.

Seems odd that the percentages in favour of both PL & Snoddy to return were very similar!!!

Its utterly strategically wrong for us but, I'd have no objection to getting Snoddy back he is/was a goodplayer, but only if we have sold on all excess wide players we currently have. He is exactly the sort of combative, defensively savvy sort of winger you need in the championship. He is actually better than all our wide player options at the moment in my opinion. Not one for the future like the Murphy's, but definitely better than them in the hear and now.

-Pay a large fee for a 29 year old Jock.....again? I bloody well hope we've learnt that lesson and with SW now running the show. No!

Part of looking to the future is surely trying to get back to the PL next season before the parachut payments finish. I believe Snoddy is better than any winger we currently have so, arguably he would be a great addition for the future of our club. Not so good for Murphy development but NCFC's future is better served by the PL coffers than one or more Murphy getting more limited game time.
But as I said in my other post, there aint a chance in hell it'll happen.

Snodgrass isn't going to happen because we can't afford him and don't need him or any other wingers, IMO. Our days of paying big fees for players on high wages are gone. The rumours of Watkins on a free are strengthening with mention now of a 3 year contract being negotiated. A good attacking CM who can play up front as well for a sign on fee and reasonable wages makes far more sense, though it won't be announced until his contract runs out at the end of June.

Where have you read that he's a CM? From what I can find, he hasn't played a single game there in his entire career. His last two seasons have been predominantly right wing/midfield or as a striker in a 4-4-2. Transfermarkt doesn't list a single appearance in a CM or CAM role.
He sounds more like a cheap option to replace Wildschut or Naismith, perhaps Jarvis, rather than Dorrans.
He can play WR, DH, but has only done so twice for Barnsley this last season, as I said earlier before this thread went off into a lot of jokes about the name Marley. Here it is again (the info is from Whoscored):

Watkins isn't really a winger though. This season at Barnsley he has played 19 games on the right in CM, 13 games as a striker and only 2 games at WR. He's not a strong crosser but is quick, tall (6'1"), and can score from range, with his head or by dribbling through defenses. He had 10 goals and 7 assists in 34 starts and 8 sub appearances. He might be seen as a replacement for Dorrans (who has been rumoured with a move to Scotland) and a third option as striker. Terry Butcher, his manager at Inverness, said of him: “He is quick, has a lovely touch, he is immensely strong and good in the air. He is a nice lad too, I never had a problem with him – he was a pleasure to work with. He has got unbelievable potential and is hungry to succeed.”
This compilation gives a reasonable view of his strengths:

Based on Whoscored and transfermarkt, that's been on the right of a flat midfield 4. Whether you want to describe his role as a winger or wide midfield, he's not played in the centre of the park in the way Dorrans has. He's not going to replace a sitting midfielder. I appreciate he's not necessarily the same sort of player as the Murphy's who are out-and-out wingers, but equally he's nothing like Dorrans.
Ideally we need an upgrade on Tettey, not another who - like Naismith, Wes, etc can be forced out wide right, wide left, etc. Let's sign the type of player we actually need, not be all extravagant and overload positions we don't need to
I hope Webber is going to 'stir it up' and not leave us 'waiting in vain' for a solid DM shield to protect the back four
I didn't mean to imply that he is similar to Dorrans, DH, just that if Dorrans (or Naismith and/or Jarvis) leaves, we'll need more midfield options. His play is more like Howson or Naismith when he was playing on the right at the end of the season. If anything, he's closer to a right-sided Wildschut in his dribbling ability and attacking play, as well as being able to play up front, but like Wildschut, he's not really a winger.

I agree Cromer, but that shouldn't stop us from signing a good attacking player to give another option on the right or even in the centre as a striker. I think we're all hoping that Thompson comes back strong from injury and pushes on at DM, but I'm not sure that he, or even Godfrey are enough at DM.
Hence my observation about an upgrade on Tettey, who can break up play while leaving Dorrans, Howson, Thompson etc (if they all stay
) to do the distribution and be creative.
