Good Morning all, today we receive racing from Thirsk, Kempton Park, Yarmouth, Windsor and Roscommon for our Irish freinds.

As promised i will produce a thread after yesterdays Open Day at Ferdys yard, and what a superb event that was. The horses looked in amazing condition and it was great to see so many happy staff looking forward to the season ahead especially after the dire one they had last year!

What I can say is Ferdy is expecting to win with the majority of his handicappers as they are all very well handicapped now due to last year's weather problems. He stated a lot of his were horses that required a set routine so the stop/start season did not help them, they never really got going! The horses that Malcolm Denmark (strange guy to chat to!) sent up were massive and all looked very similar, think the Pitman's may have been involved in buying a lot of them!

Samson Collonges (a lovely looking grey, almost white horse) looked amazing and had such a lovely temperament, without doubt one to follow.

It was lovely to see Riguez Dancer who i've followed for years as my mate who i went with has shares in him. He looks so much better in himself now at Ferdys compared to Haslams!

There was a beautiful 3yo (HRH Aga Khan homebred) Almadan i think (notes at home <confused>) who Ferdy likes very much. I will do a thorough thread tomorrow and hopefully we will all get plenty of winners from it <cheers>

Kempton 4.30

You've Been Mowed, currently 9/2.

Running well of late on the turf and now rated 82.

On the sand today, down in grade and running off a mark of 65. A whopping 17lbs lighter than her turf rating.

You've Been Mowed-Win.

Eez I had a look at You've Been Mowed last night but could only conclude the mare hates the artificial surfaces - she won her last race off 77 at Epsom but the race before that she got stuffed by 9 lengths off a mark of 54 at Southwell. All very strange but best of luck with her <ok>

I like the look of Echo Ridge at Kempton 4.00

Last time out at Kempton it ran well, with Jim Crowley as jockey. I expect it too run well as it seem to like standard conditions. Looks a good E/W at 8/1.

Eez, that 4.30 is a fascinating little heat with some interesting 3 year olds (some unexposed) taking on their elders. That one you have picked could absolutely hose up if it takes to the surface but I have my doubts about it and that is why I have looked elsewhere.

Striding Edge is the selection, because if you throw away its last run (blinkers on first time) it has a strong chance of being in the mix here. He is a course and distance winner who has won and placed off higher marks in the past and he has shown enough this season to suggest that he still has a win or two in him. He has been running over further this season and whilst he has been getting home, I do think that this trip is his optimum and I think off this lower mark he can get in the frame at least.

Add in the positive low draw (I can't get used to this) and the lowering of the handicap mark and I think this horse is wrongly priced at 22/1. A nice EW play.


5.30 Madison Square - I don't like backing Mark Johnston horses as I invariably get them wrong, but I think today is the day to be with this one. He has been running well on good ground before flopping on the softer stuff recently. This switch to the AW is very interesting and whilst this is a tough enough race I think he is open to improvement and should go close again off this mark. SDS should ride him prominently and I can see him going close here.
 
Today is surely all about Goldikova (puts on Claude Charlet/Inspecteur Clousseau voice).

Can zis magnifique mare make it quinze Gp1s, and ween me back ze monay zat Peslier (le pudding) cost me at Ascot, when 'e poot up 2lb overweight?

Just checked the BBC weather site, il fait beau a Deuville au jour de hui, so at 6/5 she's a bet.

2.20 Deauville - GOLDEN LILAC - Should have too much for Galikova again over this distance today, don't see any other dangers in the field and at 11/8 is a bet


2.55 Deauville - MUTUAL TRUST (WIN) & WORTHADD E.W - All about Goldikova for most people but she was beaten in this last year and although the forecast looks ok for today at Deauville the rain is already in to the ground and for me this blunts her turn of foot. Mutual Trust is still unbeaten and looked good at group 1 level last time out when winning from Zoffany and Strong Suit. Worthadd proved himself a classy horse when travelling well for most of the race when only beaten 1 1/4 length by Canford Cliffs at Newbury, has won since then and handles this ground 14/1 is massive
 
Cats: Do you get info from Sir Henrys yard or just Sir Michaels? I have been told a name of a very useful 2yo apparently :emoticon-0102-bigsm
 
Although i agree with You've been Mowed in the 4.30 at Kempton. I also like the look of LOCKANTANKS. Seems to have ran fairly well in previous races and with an OR of 75 I think it maybe a little over prices at 10/1. Could be worth an E/W bet
 
The Grand National course at Aintree will be changed for 2012 after a review of April's race in which two horses were fatally injured.

A reduction of between 10cm and 12.5cm to the drop on the landing side of Becher's Brook is amongst the changes.

"It is not possible to completely eliminate risk in horse racing," said Aintree managing director Julian Thick.

"However, I am confident the course changes we are announcing today will, over time, have a positive impact."
 
Nass it is beyond a joke now. For me they should just get rid of the National anyways I agree it is too risky and almost every year we see horses die in the race. I know not everyone will agree with me but I would rather it be eliminated from the racing calendar completely than see the fences reduced in size each year. As you say they may as well just remove the whole lot <laugh> because it will just be a bumper soon. It is hardly like we have the best racehorses run in it either I don't even like watching the race.

Afternoon fellow 606eeeeeeeeeers..............and Bus ******s what a week we have ahead, firstly the eagerly anticipated release of the Inbetweeners Movie, hopefully it will live up to the hype, hot on the heels of that comes the biggest football game in England, well as long as you support Sunderland or Newcastle, hopefully the Red and Whites will be celebrating come Saturday afternoon.

Anyway onto todays racing which is at best average, however, one horse that has taken my eyes this year and i have followed runs in the 5.00 Kempton, is the Gay Kellaway trained L FRANK BAUM who transfers to the all weather surface for the first time.

His previous races have all come in much better comapny than is on show here today, his best effort came in the 2m 5f Queen Alexandra Stakes at Ascot when he was held up mid-division, and made headway over 4f out, led well over 3f out, headed over 2f out. If he takes to the all weather surface he could win this with plenty in hand, gets in off a very handy mark of 84 and is a cracking EW bet at 12/1 and is my NAP for today.

Cant believe you havent mentioned your whopping pay out from the Tote at Catterick on Friday night Gary, well done mate some nice priced ones, shame you didnt perm them all but a nice return for small stakes all the same, halfers ?

Just the 2 for me today:

230K: Island Paradise from the very underrated Peter Winkworth yard could win FTO, he has done it before with his newcomers.

500K: Broughtons Point ran well enough first time at Kempton in June to have every chance here <cheers>
