I still have somewhere in a cupboard a cardboard medal as World Plateball doubles champion. A little known sport I know, played with two plastic dinner plates and a small spongy ball confiscated from a student. A row of chairs across the centre of the staff room acted as "net" and the scoring was similar to tennis. My partner and I overcame the Head of History (a bit past any sort of movement to be honest) and a rather portly Woodwork teacher. Sadly we never represented England at this fine sport, though we did annoy several Times crossworders, one or two sleep-deprived Special Needs teachers and an obsessive knitter. Happy days!
Is this what you had in mind, BB?
That'll teach me to use more precise language - I should have used 'win' instead of 'get'.....I wondered if it might be whoever bid for Nobby Stiles' medal at auction!
I thought it was probably the 3rd choice keeper, and have looked at the various squads, so I'm going for Hector Zelada, Argentina's 3rd choice keeper in 1986.
Has nothing to do with football, but it is about sport that both barry and theo regularly attend...Given your various sporting likes, I thought you would actually get this rather quickly...
Delhi left-arm seamer Sunil Valson ?
That's the one - was part of India's 1983 World Cup winning squad at Lords, but never played in that, or any other international.
Over to you.
